DRUNK DRIVER RUNS INTO VALERO GAS STATION; THREE ARRESTS MADE
Cody D. Robinette, 24, was arrested on June 28, 2015 at 12:38 p.m. Arrest was made at the Valero gas station in Louisa.
Robinette is being charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, drugs, etc…, possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle (prohibited), and careless driving.
According to a police report, Robinette hit the Valero gas station with his Dodge truck while officer Mason Keefer was in the parking lot. Upon contact, he had red, glassy eyes and had the odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, the report said. Robinette stated he had been drinking.
A standard field sobriety test was performed, the report said; one-legged stand – foot not six inches off of the ground (approx. one inch), put foot down on counts, eleven, twelve, twenty-three, twenty-five, using arms to balance.
Walk and turn – stepped off line on counts one and two, lost balance, missed steps, five and nine counts missed on the way back, horizontal gaze nystagmus – lack of smooth pursuit, onset prior to 450, nystagmus at maximum deviation, the report said.
Open beer container was found in the cup holder; beer still cold. Subject consented to a breath test and refused another.
BAC at .163; blood and urine test not requested by arresting officer Mason Keefer.
James M. Brundy, 24, was arrested on June 28, 2015 at 12:38 p.m. Arrest made at the Valero gas station in Louisa.
Brundy is being charged with alcohol intoxication in a public place; first offense.
According to a police report, Brundy was a passenger in a vehcile, in which the driver was arrested for driving under the influence. Vehicle also collided with the gas station, the report said.
When Brundy exited the vehicle he almost fell to the ground. He was uneasy on his feet to the point where he was a danger to himself. Subject was under the influence of alcohol.
Mason Keefer was the arresting officer.
Alorea N. Prater, 22, was arrested on June 28, 2015 at 12:38 p.m. Arrest made at the Valero gas station in Louisa.
Prater is being charged with alcohol intoxication in a public place; first offense.
According to a police report, Prater was a passenger in a vehicle, in which driver was arrested for driving under the influence. Vehicle also collided with the gas station, the report said.
Prater had red, glassy eyes and stated she had been drinking. Prater was also having behavior problems, the report said.
Mason Keefer was the arresting officer.
Justin Thompson, 48, was arrested on June 24, 2015 at 6:03 p.m. Arrest made on Highway 321 “Cedgap”.
Thompson is being charged with criminal littering (officer watched him throw out open beer container), possession of open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle (prohibited), and operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, drugs, etc…; second offense.
According to a police report, Thompson pulled over on the side of the road. Deputy Mark Wheeler saw him throw something out of drivers side window, as he was pulling in to check on Thompson, he was pulling out, turned on emergency lights and conducted a traffic stop.
Wheeler asked Thompson what he threw out and he replied saying a can of beer, which Wheeler later verified, according to the report.
Thompson had glassy, bloodshot eyes and a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected.
A standard field sobriety test was performed, the report said. HGN “Lack of smoother pursuit, distinct nystagmus at maximum deviation onset prior to 45 degree, PBT: presence of alcohol.” Thompson was very cooperative, the report said.
