FIRST TIME AROUND
Despite the rainy weather, a large crowd gathered at the Lawrence County Park Saturday evening for the first Youth Fest which featured a variety of talent from throughout the Appalachian area.
The event was hosted by First Time Around, a band composed of middle and high school students that travel and perform nearly every weekend at various churches, benefits and festivals.
“It’s usually all about the adults,” said Michelle Wright, mother of one of the band members. “We wanted something that could be all about the kids. There’s such amazing talent from kids in this area.”
While this was the first year for the fest, Wright said it’s something they hope will become an annual event.
The announcer for the evening was Zeb Slone and the lineup for song and musical performances included: Olivia May, Peyton Street Pickers, Maelyn Huff, Jodi Perkins, West Liberty Mountain Boys, The East Ky Blue and First Time Around.
