Girl’s grandmother, younger brother seriously injured in crash
The Louisa City Fire Department traveled across the river to Wayne County Friday afternoon in an assistance call along with other local fire departments and EMS in response to an accident that left one child dead and two others seriously injured.
A 12-year-old girl was killed in a single-vehicle crash Friday on U.S. 52 a few miles south of Tolsia High School.
The crash was reported at about 3 p.m.
Sgt. S.A. Maynard with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department said a Wayne County woman was driving south when her four-door car suddenly cut left, traveled across the highway, struck a hillside and rode a ditch line before coming to a stop.
The woman’s grandchildren, a 12-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy, were passengers in the car.
All three were ejected from the vehicle
The girl was pronounced dead at the scene while the woman and the boy were flown by helicopter to a Huntington hospital.
The Louisa Volunteer Fire Department helped secure the Tolsia High School parking lot in order to be used as a landing zone for both air medical evacuations.
The Dunlow Fire Department, Prichard Fire Department, Fort Gay Fire Department, along with Dunlow and Prichard EMS also assisted at the crash scene.
