Leonard Wells, 85, of Ashland, husband of Opal Wheeler Wells passed away, Wednesday morning, June 24, 2015 at King’s Daughters Medical Center following a brief illness.
Leonard was born May 06, 1930 in Blaine, Kentucky to the late Lonnie and Grace Cooper Wells. In addition to his parents, Leonard was preceded in death by one sister, Opal Alexander and four brothers, Carson Wells, Ottis Wells, Charles Wells and Donald Wells.
Leonard proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked in the construction industry and retired as a carpenter. Leonard also had a green thumb and could make anything grow.
Leonard leaves behind his loving wife of 61 years Opal Wheeler Wells; one son, Joe Wells and his wife Leisha of Ashland; one brother Robert Wells of Ashland; and three grandsons Ryan Smith, Brett Wells, and Nicholas Wells, along with a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Saturday June 27, 2015 at Caniff Funeral Home in Westwood with Pastor Jason Porter officiating.
Friends may call after 12:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
Graveside Services will be conducted 11:00 am Monday, June 29, 2015 at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Northeast.
