Louisville, Ky — Lawrence Co.’s baseball team was well represented last week at the East vs West All Star games. Senior Josh Cantrell, Juniors Morgan Miller, Chase Coverdale, Austin Bailey and Sophomore Trace Bowen were chosen to compete in the 32 edition of the KHSAA sponsored contest.
The teams are voted on by the coaches and the West team is Regions 1-8 and the East team is Regions 9-16. The day begins with a pro style workout for two hours in front of Pro and College Scouts and then the teams play two 7 inning games. The Senior class does not play a game but are recognized.
In the Junior games all three Dawgs played well. Austin Bailey three hits, Chase Coverdale pitched a scoreless inning, Morgan Miller went 1-2 with a RBI and run scored. In the Sophomore games Trace Bowen went 1-3 and pitched one inning with one strikeout. This showcase is really good for the players and for their futures with a ton of pro and college scout in attendance.
” All four guys showed some skills and represented Lawrence County well.i hated that Josh didn’t get to play. This is not a popularity contest, you have to be voted in by the coaches around the state.” LCHS head coach Travis Feltner said.
