A 29-year-old Georgetown man listed on the Kentucky Sex Offender Registry has been arrested for having contact with minors on social media, court and jail records show.
Jacob Aaron Dale of the 400 block of Elm Court was arrested by Georgetown police at his home less than a half hour after an arrest warrant was issued.
He is charged with two counts of sex offender (using) instant messaging/(Internet) chat/social network, Scott County Detention Center records show.
The arrest warrant says police Officer Teresa Hollon received a tip that a sex offender who works at a local fast-food restaurant had child-pornography on his cell phone.
A GPD detective ran a trace on the suspect and discovered the man was convicted in Illinois of aggravated criminal sexual abuse-victim 13 to 16 years of age.
The detective also checked two separate Facebook pages listed in variants of the suspect’s name that had pictures of children and juveniles under 18, the warrant states.
Kentucky state law prohibits people listed on the sex offenders registry from using social network sites, instant messaging and chat rooms accessible by minors, the detective said in the warrant.
In his first appearance on the charge in Scott County District Court, Dale pleaded not guilty.
His bond was set at 10 percent of $2,000 bond by District Judge Mary Jane Phelps, who also prohibited Dale from using social media and have no new offenses as conditions of release.
His next court date is July 7 in district court.
