THE 50TH REUNION OF THE RICHARDSON SCHOOL…
…WILL BE HOSTED BY DR. DANIEL MASSEY
The upcoming 50th Reunion of the Richardson School, set for June 20, 2015, will mark the first time the teacher of the 1964-1965 school year, Dr. Daniel Massey (pictured above), and his students have seen each other in over a half century. The 50th Reunion will be hosted by Massey, nick-named, the “Teacher-Preacher” by his students, because he preached at the Wednesday evening service of the Louisa Methodist Church, while he taught at the school.
Dr. Massey, who majored in Christian Education in his college program, went on to complete his Master of Divinity degree at Asbury Theological Seminary. Subsequently, he served as a Professor of Christian Education at Asbury College (now Asbury University), and then served as a Diaconal Minister in United Methodist Churches in Mississippi and Florida. In 2013, Massey earned his Doctor of Ministry degree at Azusa Pacific University.
A native of Oklahoma, Dr. Massey and his wife, Debbie, currently reside in the Los Angeles area. He serves as the Director/Founder of The Legacy Institute on Aging
and 50+ Ministry, www.50plusministry. Massey is a consultant/speaker at churches, seminaries, and conferences, on ministry with adults over 50.
The 50th Reunion will be held at the Louisa Community Center, 101 W. Pike St., Louisa, KY, from 12:00 noon until 3:00 p.m. Registration will begin at 11:30 a.m.
A potluck luncheon will be served.
The theme of this “Golden Celebration” is, “Inspiring Stories.” Participants will be invited to share a brief story about a teacher, a student, or any person they might choose to talk about, who has been an inspiration to them.
A very important feature of the reunion will be the Memorial Table. The table will have a framed photo and candle for the late William Cheek, Lawrence County School Superintendent for over 30 years, and 9 Richardson School students, who have passed away since 1965. The candles will be lit as each name is announced.
Another important part of the reunion will be the presentation of Certificates of Academic Achievement to all Richardson School students who have completed a bachelor’s degree, and those students who have earned both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree.
The “Golden Girls,” a.k.a., the “Richardson Girls” will serve as the Reunion Committee. They are Sharon Hinkle Kinner, Chair, Donna Stepp Cox, Susie Boyd Lacks, and Patty Vanhoose Rutherford.
