(Ashland, KY) — The Kentucky State Police in Ashland is investigating a murder and kidnapping that occurred Sunday, May 24, 2014 at approximately 9 pm at a residence on Riverbend Way in Carter County, KY. Post 14 Troopers arrived and located Marcus Blake McDavid, 24, of Grayson, deceased inside the residence and obtained information that a female was kidnapped from the residence by Freddy Darren Irick.
An autopsy is scheduled to be conducted on Marcus Blake McDavid today in Frankfort, KY.
As Detectives and Troopers continued to receive information arrest warrants were obtained for Mr. Irick for Murder and Kidnapping.
Freddy Darren Irick, age 33, of Carter County and the female victim were located at 87 Taylor Hollow Road in the Aden Road area of Carter County. Mr. Irick was arrested and lodged in the Carter County Detention Center. The female victim did not receive any serious injuries during the incident.
The following agencies responded and assisted during the course of the investigation: Kentucky State Police Crime Scene Response Unit, Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife, Grayson Police Department, and the Carter County Coroner’s Office.
Case remains under investigation by Trooper First Class Michael Murriell.
Mr. Irick was also arrested on other arrest warrants for Assault 1st and Impersonating a Peace Officer that is the result of another and separate Kentucky State Police Post 14 investigation.
