Louisa pool to open just in time
School is almost out and summer is about to arrive, which could only mean one thing – the city pool is about to open!
City officials and laborers have been hard at work renovating the Louisa city pool for the locales who enjoy swimming every year.
There are a lot of renovations that are happening in and out of the pool. Pool-goers will get to enjoy the crystal clear waters, new concessions booth and an updated gazebo lounge, donated by the local rotary club, on the top building for teenagers and parents.
The concessions area will have hotdogs, chips, snacks, drinks and more, which was not previous in other years. Along with that, the “layout” area on the top building has been updated. The update includes a large metal gazebo and circular furniture so family and friends can relax and not worry about the sun.
“The pool has always brought a lot of [swimmers],” Mayor Harold Slone said. “We expect even bigger turnouts now that we have put in a lot of time and money renovating.”
The pool will have a grand re-opening for four hours this Memorial day weekend, Saturday, May 23 at 4 p.m. Next Saturday, May 29, the pool will be open for the summer.
Renovations this year for the pool are estimated around $15,000, said Slone. “We’ve been hard at work to make this pool better for the community.”
The Louisa city pool will also offer swimming lessons for summer 2015:
– Swimming lessons will be offered Monday-Thursday at 11:00 a.m. to children 2 and up.
– Children 3 and under must have a parent or guardian in the water with them during the class.
– The parent or guardian MUST remain on pool property during the entire swimming lessons for ALL students.
– One week: $30 per student
– Two or more weeks: $25 per week per student
You may sign-up by stopping at the pool during regular business hours (Mon-Sat 12-6) after June 1 or by contacting Jessica Crittendon at 304-634-7793 or at email@example.com
