PRIMARY ELECTION DAY
Hogan seeking GOP nomination for Kentucky attorney general;
Polls are Open Tuesday from 6am – 6pm
For the first time since anyone living can remember, Lawrence Countians have a chance to vote for one of their own on Tuesday as County Attorney Mike Hogan is running for the Republican nomination for Kentucky Attorney General.
Hogan, who was re-elected to his fourth consecutive term as county attorney in November, has been earning high marks as he has campaigned extensively throughout Kentucky from north to south and east to west. The Lexington Herald-Leader praised Hogan for being “personable and articulate” and touted his experience and qualifications for the office including being the only the U.S. military veteran in the race.
Hogan has put around 14,000 miles on his 2006 Jeep Commander as he has campaigned all across the state from January until May. His campaign wrapped up a final swing on Sunday that took them into each of Kentucky’s six congressional districts during the last week of the campaign.
“I am running for attorney general for all of Kentucky, but I am proud to be from Lawrence County and to be a son of the Eastern Kentucky Coalfields, where my heart shall always be,” Hogan told supporters during a Monday morning statewide conference call.
“As we wrap up this race today and will be voting tomorrow, my heart is so full for the sacrifices my family has made so that I could make this race and to all my dedicated campaign team and supporters who have worked so hard and been so generous to me. I appreciate all the help, from the bottom of my heart, and I hope we can win this primary so that we can give average Kentuckians a true choice this November,” Hogan said.
Hogan’s campaign is continuing their “Get Out the Vote” operation through Monday evening and will be gathering at their election night headquarters at the Clarion Hotel in Lexington when the polls close on Tuesday.
“All of the counties of Eastern Kentucky and the Big Sandy Valley need to turn out and vote for one of our own. Mike needs a big vote out of our mountain counties,” said Pikeville attorney Phillip Wheeler, who serves on Hogan’s statewide campaign committee.
The polls are open tomorrow, Tuesday, May 19th from 6:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. If you are unsure of your polling location, please visit https://vr.sos.ky.gov/vic/.
