One man indicted on driving under the influence, 4th offense in 5 years…Another indicted for assaulting a Ft. Gay Police Officer
LOUISA, Ky. — A Lawrence County grand jury handed up two indictments during its last session including:
Chase M. Howard, 27, Boonscamp, KY, was indicted on charges of Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol/Drugs, Operating on Suspended License, Possession/Use Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, Prescription Controlled Substance Not In Proper Container, and Persistent Felony Offender.
According to the indictment, on or about January 17, 2015, Chase M. Howard committed the offense of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. It was his 4th offense within 5 years.
The defendant also knowingly and unlawfully operated a motor vehicle on a suspended or revoked license, and was also in the possession of use of drug paraphernalia; two loaded syringes and a altered spoon.
Howard also knowingly and unlawfully was in possession of a schedule IV controlled substance, Alprazolam, and was also in possession of a controlled substance not in the properly administered container–second offense. The Defendant is considered a persistent felony offender due to being previously convicted of a felony.
Clarence Childers, 45, Louisa, KY, was indicted on charges of Assault in the 1st Degree and Persistent Felony Offender.
According to the indictment, on or about November 14, 2014, Clarence Childers intentionally or wantonly manifested extreme indifference to the value of human life by physically assaulting Officer Dallas Ray Scarberry with the Fort Gay Police Department by means of a deadly weapon or dangerous instrument.
The Defendant is considered a persistent felony offender due to being previously convicted of a felony.
An indictment is not proof of guilt nor innocence but a charge made that enough evidence exists that merits a trial.
