Grease: The Musical!
The students of the Sheldon Clark Drama Club are on the rise! Over 2,800 people watched their production of “Grease: The Musical” at their three school shows and two dinner shows. Both dinner shows sold out and every student in the middle and high school had the opportunity to watch along with two grades from each elementary school.
This talented group of students auditioned in December for the roles of your beloved Grease characters and have been practicing since early January. The famous Sandy Dumbrowski (Sandy Olsen in the movie) was played by Kaitlyn Keener, a junior. Danny Zuko was played by Wesley Hager, a sophomore. Too-cool Betty Rizzo was played by Shawna Maynard, the beauty school dropout, Frenchy, was performed by Victoria Stepp, Shyanna Jude played Marty, the crazed fan of Vince Fontaine, and Hannah Scott portrayed the role of Jan, the constantly-hungry freak of the Pink Ladies. The preppy cheerleader who is caught drooling for Danny the whole time, Patty Simcox, was played by scene-stealing Emily Waller.
The car crazed, Greased Lightning owner, Kenickie, was played by Lance Tackett, The youngster of the T-Birds, Doody, was portrayed by Jacob Ward, Roger, the “Mooning Champ of Rydell High” was played by Heath Maynard, and the “Heart-Throb” wannabe Sonny, was played by Alex Jude.
Characters such as Cha-Cha was played by Ali Scott, the best dancer around. Marvin Albrecht was the teen angel that helped Frenchy make the decision to go back to highschool. Austin Moore had all the girls drooling as Vince Fontaine. Adam Cornette was the Hand-Jive King Johnny Casino. Carley Fraley was boring principal Mrs. Lynch, and Trent Vanover was Eugene the Nerd.
Others included in dancing scenes and filler students include Ethan Osborne, Michael Patrick, Megan Moore, Julie Preece, Chelsey Delong, Kaitie Stepp, Alexis Bowen, Marissa Mills, Sierra Spence, Allison Dye, Kim Wallace, Abby Reed, Taylor Robinson, Telisha Warren, Chris Muncy, Aaron Moore, Greg Workman, Karlea Maynard, Cameron Preston, and Kendrick Cook and more.
Along with the many cast members, there were also many sponsors. The Drama Club would like to thank C & T Spray Foam, Tri State Family Medical, Brian Davis and Family, Bobby Hale and Family, Tommy’s Auto Sales, Sheila’s Sweet Tees, Fields Medical Supply, Evans Hardware, and Martin County Judge Executive Kelly Callaham and Family. Also, thank you to light and sound workers, Cody Gauze, Aaron Tackett, Colby Muncy, Kelsey Dean, Mckenzie Fraley, and Logan Fitch, as well as Cory Stacy, Ryan Maynard, Emily Butcher, Chase Muncy, Julie Preece, all of those who helped with props.
The Drama Club is sponsored by Mrs. Kristen Hale. We also thank the Roy F. Collier Community Center Staff and Carolea Mills, Mr Mike Jude and the Martin County ATC Carpentry Class for the props, SCHS Art Class and Art Club and Mrs. Bonnie Moore for artwork and backdrops, JROTC and Sgt. Alan Carroll for serving as ushers, and Mrs. Connie Harless and the SCHS Culinary Arts class for serving meals during the dinner theater. Assisting with direction, guidance and costumes were Kara Scott, Jennifer Waller, Denise Butcher, Ruth Mary Branham, Stephanie Stiles May, Dena Bowen, Leanna Muncy, Machelle Ray, Frankie Smith, Steven Hale, Courtney Butcher, and Samantha Maynard.
