A Lawrence County Family Resource Centers event
..lots of activities for parents and children
Louisa, KY — The third annual Stand Up For Children Event was held Thursday, April 30, from 5-7 pm at the Louisa Community Center, and drew a huge crowd despite the rainy weather.
The event which is held each year and organized by the area school family resource centers, is an awareness program to help prevent child abuse. Many activities were available for children such as face painting, dancing, crafts, inflatables and storybook characters were on hand to take pictures with the kids.
Parents heard talks and received information on child safety, nutrition, parenting skills, and much more. The Kentucky State Police was present to fingerprint children with an identification program for crime prevention, and provided a display on drug abuse.
Lots of prizes were given away and food and drinks were available. Laura Dennison, LCHS School Secretary, registered folks for the event and reported 206 children and 120 adults in attendance.
The Lawrence County Family Resource Centers thank everyone who helped sponsor the event and all those who participated.
