Dawgs playing best baseball at the right time
Louisa, Ky — LC sophomore Trace Bowen extended his scoreless inning streak and evened his record to 2-2 as the Dawgs gave him plenty of cushion with five in the first and four in the second to take a commanding 9-0 lead over District 60 opponent Phelps at Randy Keeton Field Tuesday evening. Bowen threw a one hit complete game shutout, striking out six and walking one on only 52 pitches as the Bulldogs manhandled Phelps in a 10-0 mercy rule game.
Brock Turner was 2-3 with a double and two runs batted in. Zach Keezee had four stolen bases and two runs scored. Josh Cantrell and Warren Price both had one hit and one run batted in. Morgan Miller 2 runs scored. LC had six hits and ten stolen bases as they improved to 12-10 and 4-0 in 60th District Play.
Lawrence Co. will be back in action Thursday at Boyd Co, Friday at Letcher Co. Central and Saturday at home vs Cabell Midland, W.Va.
Coach’s Comments:
“Excellent job on the mound the last two nights, pitchers worked ahead, aggressive, and around the strike zone.” Coach Travis Feltner said. “We needed to pitch shutouts and that is what we did. I really like where my team is right now. We have been in every game but a couple this year. We’re 4-0 in the district with two games left. We want the #1 seed.
