For the first time ever, Lawrence County will be hosting the Country Music Highway ‘Road to Fame’ singing competition, with auditions to be held Monday, April 20, at the Lawrence County Community Center from 6-9 pm.
The ‘Road to Fame,’ now in its fourth year, is a talent search looking for the next potential star from the eastern Kentucky area along the highway that made so many famous. The counties along this golden road of musical talent has produced such stars as Loretta Lynn, Ricky Skaggs, Patty Loveless, Dwight Yoakum, Larry Cordle, Crystal Gayle, Billy Ray Cyrus, The Judd’s, and more.
During the five April auditions, ‘Road to Fame’ judges will choose one hundred talented contestants to continue their journey and advance to one of five “qualification”rounds, to be judged by a panel of independent music industry experts, held May 8, 27, 28, 30, and June 5, 2015.
In a recent press release, President of PCG Nashville, Bernard Porter, said “We are excited to kick off another year with the 2015 Road to Fame competition. It’s great to see the advancement and achievements of some of the former contestants. This year we will be kicking off PCG workshops to better prepare our RTF finalists. East Kentucky is a hotbed of extreme talent and we are glad to play a role in helping artists work towards their goals and dreams.”
The winner, who will receive a very attractive Grand Prize Package, as well as the top 10 finalists, will act as ambassadors representing the Country Music Highway at various events throughout the year and will help promote the 2016 ‘Road to Fame’ talent search.
