Introduction SCHS — Adam J. Turner
SCHS Football Coach
by Marci Hansen
Today is an important day for the future of Sheldon Clark High School and for youth in Martin County Schools. This April, we will enter into a new path for football, celebrating change and progress in our high school and following in the tradition of excellence established by former head coaches Earl Hutchinson, Chuke Williams, Jim Matney and Shawn Hager.
As we enter this journey, we will see football in Martin County continue to rise in stature and importance. We look forward to a bright future with anticipation! The best is yet to come.
As we all know, a vibrant athletics program is an important component of school life. An essential next step for Cardinal Football was hiring a coach who will take us into the future. I am pleased to say that we’ve found a man with the experience, passion and energy necessary to make us successful. We’ve found a coach who has learned from renowned coaches like Mark Peach and Dudley Hilton how to build a winning program, and who does it the right way – with high-quality student-athletes who will represent us well, and with distinction by continuing our community’s tradition of excellence.
We are thrilled to end this search for football coach with the announcement of the hiring of Adam Turner.
Turner, a 1998 graduate and four-year football letterman at Bell County High School, has a long and distinguished history as both a player and as a coach. He was a 2004 graduate of Campbellsville University, where he was a 2002 NAIA National Football Gazette All-American Honorable Mention and 2003 1sTeam All-American and selected as a 2003 NAIA football player to watch. Turner began his coaching career at Marion County High School as an assistant, moving later to Anderson County, and finally Bell County where he has served as offensive line coach for the last two years. During his tenure {as an assistant}, he has recorded two district championships, two regional championships, two 5A state semi-final runs, and a record of 67 wins and 21 losses.
Adam Turner knows how to build a winning program with high-quality student-athletes who will represent us with distinction.
I am personally delighted with our newest addition to Cardinal Nation, and I know you will be, too.
