Louisa, KY — On Saturday, April 11 from 6pm till midnight, the past comes alive as Louisa Foodland Plaza will once again see cruisers circle the parking lot that made Louisa famous.
Over 35 years ago, back before Walmart, Food City, and McDonalds; before cell phones and Facebook; when Foodland was the premier grocery store in Louisa and the first job to many high school students, ‘cruising the Plaza’ was THE thing to do
on Friday and Saturday nights.
It didn’t matter what kind of car or truck you had, if it had a radio, it was all good.
It didn’t matter if you had a date or not, it was all about friends just hanging out, listening to music, and having a good time.
Over the years, video games, social media, and other interests drew young people away, Foodland shut down, and cruisin’ the Plaza faded into history, only to live in the memories of those who made it iconic.
Cold Ethyl
Next Saturday, we will all have the chance to relive those glory days and cruise the plaza once again. ‘Cold Ethyl’ a local band back in the day featuring hometown boys David ‘Chico’ Prince, Bill Hammond, Jeff Rogers and Daryl Hall, will play at 7:00 pm.
FREE!!!
Come out, bring your kids, and show a whole new generation how we did things back in the 70’s and 80’s in Louisa, KY!
