Lawrence County Attorney up 7 points in independent survey; maintains 2-to1 lead in Fifth Congressional District
LEXINGTON- Lawrence County Attorney Mike Hogan maintains a 7 percent lead over State Sen. Whitney Westerfield (R-Hopkinsville) in the GOP Primary race for Ky. Attorney General according to current independent polling by Triumph Campaigns of Jackson, Mississippi, headed by Justin Brassell, 2008 campaign manager to U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell.
According to the poll, Hogan leads in five of Kentucky’s six congressional districts, including a 2-to-1 lead in his native Fifth Congressional District of Eastern and Southeastern Kentucky. Hogan’s 22 percent is the highest for any of the down ticket candidates in all contested Republican primary races.
Hogan is leading Westerfield even in Westerfield’s native First Congressional District of Western Kentucky.
“This poll confirms what we have been hearing on the campaign trail across Kentucky, and that is that Republicans are ready to elect an experienced, mature conservative who can win in November,” Hogan said.
“Obviously, there is a huge undecided vote but the trend is moving in our direction because Kentuckians want an attorney general who stands on his two feet and who is free from control of the special interests,” continued Hogan.
Hogan said his campaign would continue to campaign aggressively during the final weeks of the campaign leading up to the May 19th primary election.
