LOUISA, Ky. — Coming into the season, Coach Travis Feltner and his Lawrence County Baseball Dawgs were believed to be one of the favorites in the 15th Region. After all, the team’s combination of hitting, pitching, and defense is one of the best around.
So far so good for the Bulldogs as they’ve started off the season with four wins and two losses, despite having to move several practices indoor due to weather. LC has wins thus far over region foes Prestonsburg, Shelby Valley, Belfry, and border rival Wayne, WV. The team’s losses come at the hands of Riverside, WV, and Sheldon Clark.
Chase Coverdale, Brock Turner, and Eric Salyers have been stellar on the mound for the Bulldogs. Austin Bailey, Zach Keesee, Noah Lambert, Morgan Miller, and Warren Price, along with several other key players have done the bulk of the damage from the plate for a squad that’s averaging over 6 runs per game.
With the bulk of the schedule remaining Lawrence County will head south to Emerson, Georgia for the Perfect Game Spring Swing where they’ll play five games in five days. They’ll return home April 7 to face Pike County Central before hosting Johnson Central, Ravenswood, WV, and Greenup County in the Big Sandy Bash.
Coach Feltner did not respond to several Lazer attempts to contact him for comments on the season.
The Levisa Lazer sports team will have a complete wrap-up from the Spring Break tournament next week.
We want to wish Coach Feltner and his players the best of luck in Georgia!
