A year removed from a 15th Region Runner-Up finish, Coach Travis Feltner and his Lawrence County baseball team are primed to make another run toward Whitaker Bank Ballpark. The road to Lexington, however, will once again be filled with Eagles, Tigers, and Pirates.
Preseason rankings have Johnson Central, Lawrence County, Paintsville, and Belfry all picked to battle for a regional crown on the diamond.
The Dawgs have a big chunk of their team back including Austin Bailey, Zach Keesee, Noah Lambert, Morgan Miller, and Warren Price, along with several other key players. Combine the experience with the stellar pitching from Chase Coverdale, Brock Turner, Eric Salyers and other strong arms and this season, at least on paper, looks very promising.
LC has started the season 2-0 with wins over Prestonsburg and Shelby Valley but the meat of the schedule will come after the annual Spring Break trip, (this season to Emerson, Georgia) where the Dawgs will compete in the Perfect Game Spring Swing.
You can catch the next home game on March 20th vs. Belfry with first pitch set at 6 p.m. at Lawrence County High School.
While we are waiting on the 2015 team photo here is the schedule and roster provided by coach Travis Feltner.
