You don’t have to listen to the big game on a Johnson Co. station,
…get local coverage on
The Lazer and WFGH FM
Our coverage was a bit garbled for three quarters but the 4th quarter was good and shows lots of promise for future events. Go Dawgs! Many thanks to the folks of WFGH-FM and the students and administration of Tolsia High School for their generous support! Go Rebs!
LOUISA-FT. GAY — For the first time Ft. Gay and Louisa media will team up to broadcast the 15th Region Ky. boys basketball tourney finals to area viewers.
“This will be great for our communities as we try to bring everyone together in the name of sports,” LEVISALAZER.COM Editor/Publisher Mark Grayson said.
The Lazer, in conjunction with East Ky. Sports broadcasting has been attempting to bring the games live to Lawrence County residents during the first two games of the Regionals but technical problems at the Pikeville Expo Center have stymied those efforts.
EKSB radio announcers Mitch Castle and Bo Brumfield came up with the idea of teaming up with Ft. Gay station WFGH FM which has been in operation for over 40 years and is popular in both the Louisa and Ft. Gay areas. It is affilliated with the Wayne Co. school system.
“We hope we can combine on several events in the future,” Grayson said.
The situation arose when Louisa station, 92.3 Ignite FM moved its operations to Grayson, Ky. late last year and now reportedly to Wheelersburg, Ohio after being owned and controlled by the Britton family of Louisa for decades.
The station’s new owners decided there was not enough interest and sponsor money in the basketball tourney this season and decided not to broadcast it, a statement from the station manager Mike Nelson said on Feb. 28, 2015, less than a week before tournament action began.
You can tune in to the game at 6:45 this evening on:
