Things haven’t always went as planned this season for the Lawrence County boys basketball team but in the first round of the 2015 15th Region Tournament Bulldog Coach, Travis York couldn’t have scripted the game any better.
Five Dawg players scored in double figures led by Sophomore Timmy Dalton with 20 to lead Lawrence County over Allen Central 100-81 and advance to the semifinals of the regional tournament for the second year in a row.
The game was never in doubt as LC sprinted out to a 31-13 lead after one quarter. The Dawgs matched that total in the 2nd stanza and took a halftime lead of 62-37. The second half was a much slower pace as Allen Central tried to claw back into the game but the Running Rebels couldn’t hold off the Bulldog offense.
Robert Dalton returned to the court for the first time in nearly a month because of a hand injury and showed no signs of rust with 18 points. Brandon Richardson also had 18 for the Dawgs while Grant Kiser chipped in 13, and Austin Chaffins had 10.
“I thought we executed our game plan great. We got everybody involved early and shared the ball extremely well,” Bulldogs Head Coach Travis York said. “Hopefully we can continue that in the semifinals against Sheldon Clark.”
The Bulldogs (18-12) will take on the champion of the 57th District, Sheldon Clark at 6:30 p.m. Monday night for a chance to play in Tuesday’s title game. You can catch all the action live on The Levisa Lazer-East Kentucky Sports Internet Radio Network beginning at 6:15 p.m.
