While it was announced over a year ago that the one and only retail business in Blaine, B&C Market would be closing in June 2015, changes are taking place and the store will now remain open.
On Sunday, March 8 current B&C Market owners posted on Facebook: “Praise the Lord! As the day approaches of our retirement in June we are excited to announce that the store will remain open! A local family has committed themselves to serving the needs of our little community. We want everyone to know how thankful and grateful we are for those who has stopped by to shop or just dropped in for a hug and a howdy. We appreciate your business and friendship. Please pray for us as we go through this bitter sweet chapter of our life . May The Lord bless you all and show favor on our little town of Blaine.”
New owners, Brad and Kimber Skaggs, both of Blaine, will be leasing the building and assuming ownership of the business.
While an exact date the new ownership will take place hasn’t been determined, Kimber Skaggs says the store will remain open and there will be no down time.
“It will be a smooth transition,” said Skaggs. “The store will remain open for businesses as the process is in place.”
While Skaggs says there are lots of permits and things to get in place, she says they are excited and grateful for the opportunity.
“Through much prayer we feel like it’s time to start a new chapter in our lives,” says Skaggs. “Brad and I will be taking over the market in hopes of carrying on the tradition of a down home country atmosphere. We personally enjoy living a country life in the hills and would like to keep the tradition alive for many years to come!”
Though minor changes will be taking place, such as the name of the business along with days and hours of operation, all of the details are still being finalized and will be released to the public soon.
“We’re just simple, down to earth people just like they are (in reference to the current owners),” said Skaggs. “We fully intend to keep the business that way too.”
