Girls still play tonight, boys changed to Saturday…
Lawrence County Lady Bulldogs (12-17) will face the Prestonsburg Lady Blackcats(15-13) tonight at 8 pm in the first round of the 15th region tournament.
The tournament will take place at the East Kentucky Expo Center in Pikeville.
15th region tournament officials have made a few changes. The girls will play tonight, and if they win tomorrow night and then the championship game Friday night.
Originally scheduled to begin Wednesday night, the boys will start on Saturday with Sheldon Clark vs. East Ridge at 1 pm, Bulldogs taking on Allen Central at 2:30 pm, Shelby Valley vs. Johnson Central at 6:30 pm and South Floyd vs. Pike Central at 8 pm.
The Lady Bulldogs have lost twice this season to the Lady Blackcats. The first game was a battle between the two and ended with an overtime score 66-62. The second time they met was not quite so close and the Blackcats came away with the win 82-56.
As Senior Laken Fitch stated in the first round of District play, “It is hard to beat a team three times in the same year.” The Bulldogs proved that when they beat Pike County Central, 75-64.
“No one expected us to make it this far and my girls have really showed up and proved that they deserve to be there tonight. We are ready to play hard tonight and to come home victorious!” Head Coach Melinda Feltner said.
Tonight the student section has chose to have a “Black Out” so come wearing black and support the Lady Bulldogs.
