Several members of the Lawrence County Middle School Lady Dawgs Soccer Team competed in the annual “Thunder in the Valley” tournament hosted by Marshall University on Saturday, February 14, 2015.
During the all day tournament, the Lady Dawgs faced four other talented teams from the surrounding area. Their first game, the girls played the WV Rapids team, which ended with a 6-0 victory for our Lady Dawgs.
Second, they played the WV Futbol Club Red Rowdies, ending in a 3-3 tie game. There were 7 teams competing within the middle school division and the tie during the second game forced our Lady Dawgs to play the WV Futbol Club Red Rowdies again during the semi-final rounds for the chance to play in the championship game. During that second face-off with the WV Futbol Club Red Rowdies, our girls shined and the final game score was 3-0, putting our girls in the championship game. The championship game was between our Lady Dawgs and the WV Futbol Club White Rowdies. Our girls played hard and won the championship game in a 3-1 victory!
We want to take this opportunity to invite everyone to come and watch these talented young ladies play this coming middle school season. Our first game is currently scheduled for home at the LC Soccer field behind LCHS, Thursday, March 19th beginning at 6pm against Boyd County.
