LC holds senior night celebration
With only one game left in the 20-15 season Coach Melinda Feltner’s Lady Bulldogs (11-16) are looking towards the 60th District Tournament where they will play a 6:30 pm game against Pike Central at Phelps. LC is 2-4 in District play after moving over to the 60th this season from the 57th where they have been for a decade.
Feltner, who is in her second year at the helm of the Lady dawgs, has had goo things to say aabout her team even though they have posted a losing record. “These girls give it 100% and I am proud of them and how far they’ve come since thew beginning of the season,” Feltner said.
“Our kids had a successful Senior night and we are proud of them and wish them all the best in their future endeavors,” Feltner said. “Shelby Hay became a member of the Lady Bulldog 1,000 point club this year. This is a very nice accomplishment for her and my coaching staff and I are very proud of her.”
Here’s the program presented by Ms. Feltner on Senior Night:
‘…Our first senior, Laken Fitch. She is escorted by her parents, Brian and Kimberly Fitch. Laken has played basketball at LCHS for 5 years.
Her accomplishments during high school include Governor’s Scholar, President of The National Honor Society, A Senior Salute member and tied for #1 in the Senior class with a 4.0 GPA. She is also a member of River Baptist church.
After graduation Laken plans to attend Morehead State University to major in Biomedical Sciences.
Laken’s advice to the underclassmen is to ‘play every game like it’s your last. Go hard everyday’.
Laken says that her favorite memory is when we got back to back 20 win seasons.
Our next senior is Caroline Clevenger, Caroline is escorted by her parents Mark and Donna Clevenger. Caroline has played basketball at LCHS for 5 years.
Her accomplishments during high school are honorable mention all area golf team, Senior Salute, National Honor Society member, Honor Roll for 4 years of high school, 4-H member, state representative 4-H poultry competition. Caroline also is a member of the First Baptist church, member of FCA youth group, 4-H Teen Club, JR. Rotary Club, as well as HOSA club.
Caroline plans to attend Transylvania University in Lexington, KY.
Caroline’s advice to the underclassman is to ‘look at each day as a new opportunity to be the very best you can be’. Her favorite basketball memory as a Lady Bulldog is when we beat Sheldon Clark at Sheldon Clark and also the close friendships I have gained over the past years.
Our next Senior is Kelli Lemaster. She is escorted by her parents, Rick and Angela Lemaster. Kelli has played basketball at LCHS for 5 years.
Her accomplishments during high school are Senior Salute, Top 10% of her class, National Honor Society, holds school record in volleyball for most assists in a single season, all district volleyball team, team academic award. Kelli attends St. Jude Catholic Church and is a member of 4-H teen club.
Kelli’s advice to the underclassman is ‘with everything you do, always give 100%. Never limit yourself from accomplishing something great’. Her favorite memory as a Lady Bulldog was coming back and beating Paintsville at Paintsville.
Our last Senior is Shelby Hay. She is escorted by her parents, Cindy Hay and John Hay. Shelby has played basketball at LCHS for 5 years.
Her accomplishments during high school include honorable mention All-Area basketball her sophomore and junior years, full scholarship to play soccer at Morehead State University, Senior Salute, Member of National Honor Society, Freshman Representative Homecoming court, Senior Representative Homecoming Court. She also attends Meade’s Branch Free Will Baptist Church, where she is a member of church youth group, Girl Scout Member and also FCA member.
Shelby plans to attend Morehead State University to play soccer and pursue a degree in Business/accounting.
Her advice to underclassmen is ‘don’t take anything for granted, cherish every moment because trust me, it flies by’. Shelby’s greatest memory as a Lady Bulldog is beating Sheldon Clark at Sheldon Clark, She says it was the craziest game of her life.
