JANUARY 26, 2015;

Bulldogs finish week (2-1) after 84-83 win over Shroder, Ohio; Dawgs regrouping…

By Donnie Shapaka

Louisa— The Lawrence County Bulldogs finished (2-1) in boy’s basketball action last week. The week started off rough for the Bulldogs after they fell 81-59 to former district rival Johnson Central on Tuesday night. Junior Robert Dalton played in his first game back following a minor illness. Dalton led the Bulldogs in scoring with 21 points. Grant Kiser fouled out with 10 points, Austin Chaffins, Brandon Richardson,and Shawn Moore each contributed 9 points apiece. Alex Gilliam added one point off the bench.

The Bulldogs fell down 15-10 in the first quarter then battled back to tie it 24-24 in the 2nd quarter. The Golden Eagles closed the first half on a 13-0 run to lead 27-24 at the half. Lawrence County outscored Johnson Central (21-17) in the 3rd quarter to cut the lead to 54-45 heading into the 4th quarter. The Bulldogs cut the Golden Eagles lead to 2 points several times but Johnson Central kept responding like good basketball teams do. Tommy McKenzie’s squad finished the game strong outscoring the Bulldogs (27-14) to win 81-59.

Johnson Central, a former District 57 Bulldog rival,  was led by Kyle Gullet who finished with a game high 28 points. Mason Blair added 17 points, Braxton Blair put in 12, and Dalton Adkins contributed 10. Tyler Pack scored 8 points off the bench, Josh Hitchcock added 4, and Patrick Rice finished with 2 points.
