Fiscal Court, City council set new meeting times;
The Lawrence County Fiscal Court will now be holding their monthly meetings on the third Tuesday of the month at 10:00 am in the upstairs courtroom of the Lawrence County Courthouse, downtown Louisa instead of the third Monday.
Meetings were previously held on the third Monday, but due to scheduling conflicts and other county obligations, the fiscal court voted to change the meeting date upon the suggestion of the judge/executiv. who has the power to set meeting dates and times. The location will remain the same. The next fiscal court meeting will be Tuesday, January 20 at 10:00 am. For more information, call the Lawrence County Judge’s Office at 606-638-4102.
Meetings are open to the public.

Courthouse Confusion
There is still some confusion about what business is done at the Lawrence County Courthouse downtown and the new Lawrence County Judicial Center on U.S. Rt. 23.
The Circuit Court Clerk’s Office (Jodi Parsley) is located in the new judicial center, and is where you go to get driver’s license renewed and information on circuit and district court cases. Family court, drug court, and all civil and criminal cases are heard in the courtrooms there. The phone number is still the same, 606-638-4215.
The Lawrence County Court Clerk’s Office (Chris Jobe) is still located in the old courthouse downtown, and is where you go to license vehicles, transfer titles, and pay vehicle taxes. Marriage records and deeds are located there, as well as information on birth and death certificates. You can also apply for a passport at the county court clerk’s office. The phone number is 606-638-4108.
