Planning Underway for 5th Annual Easter Egg Hunt…

Though it seems the holiday season is over, one organization in the county is already gearing up for the next one. Thirty Two West Auxiliary, a nonprofit organization based out of the Blaine area, has already began planning for their 5th Annual Easter Egg Hunt.
“Last year we had over 300 in attendance, which is huge for this area,” said Dorothy Edwards, auxiliary president. “This year we are expecting even more and plan to make it bigger and better.”
With the help of several local donations and fundraisers, last years’ event featured over 5,000 candy filled eggs, pictures with Westy (the auxiliary bunny), crafts, face painting, door prizes for adults and over 100 door prizes for children including bicycles, a swimming pool and a giant filled basket. All of which was free to the public.
Though the auxiliary members admit it’s a lot of work to put on such an event, they say they couldn’t imagine not doing it.
“We love this community and are all about giving back,” said Edwards. “To see the smiles it puts on the kids faces makes it all worth it.”
Westy the Bunny also visits Blaine Elementary School each year the week prior to the egg hunt and hands out goodies.
“The kids get so excited to see the bunny come to their class,” said Edwards.
In hopes of making this years’ event even bigger, plans are already being made to help raise funds. Fundraising plans include bake sales, ticket sales on raffle items along with other events in which details are still being finalized. As always, the group hopes to be able to count on the help of local businesses for support too.
“We’ve been very fortunate in the years past to have been able to obtain the support and help from several local businesses,” said Edwards. “Whether it be monetary donations, items to raffle or door prizes, we are grateful to know that we have businesses in the area that help small town nonprofits such as us.”
This years’ egg hunt is scheduled for Saturday, April 4th.
