Eagle Ridge Golf League News
Tuesday, June 10, was another day that started as if we were not going to play because of the weather, but the league started in mild and sunny conditions. However, the thunder was heard in the background, and for most everyone, the course cleared before the rain and wind hit. However, the group that finished furthest from the clubhouse had to suffer through the high winds and rain. Vic Swinney, being the scorekeeper in the last group on the course, should receive special commendation for protecting the scorecard of his group. Also, Dan Preece, who had to wait for the last group to finish, also had to suffer through the wind and rain. As for me, I made it home before the storm struck.
The greens were fast, not as fast a couple of weeks ago, but most players had a difficult time in taming both the golf course and the greens. Of course that excludes Joey Stepp and Ronnie Wellman, who both appeared to have the conditions under control.
Now here are Tuesday’s results.
June 10, 2014:
Low Net Score (31) Ronnie Wellman
Low Gross Score (37) Joey Stepp
Closest to the pin (#3) Joey Stepp
Longest Putt (#18) Bill England
Closest to the pin (#17) Jim Allen
Longest Drive (#4) Bill England
Closest 2nd shot (#2) Bill England
Fewest Putts (14) Joey Stepp
Greens in Regulation Dan Preece (7)
The new handicaps and leaders in the skills competition will be calculated next week. Now is the time to enjoy one of the most beautiful golf courses in Kentucky, especially before the reseeding commences.
