Joe Wallen, Chase Coverdale, and Brock Turner were chosen for the 15th Region All-Tournament team.
When Head Coach Travis Feltner was asked his thoughts on the 15th region games he stated, “I’m very proud of our kids this past week. We had a huge challenge set before us and battled all week. We had to face three different teams #1 pitcher on the mound, beginning with Pikeville’s Jake Hamilton, followed by Belfry’s Keeton Taylor and then JC’s Josh Hitchcok. Our kids really rose to the challenge and battled all the way to the end!”
He went on to say, “Many of our players had a great tournament led by senior Joe Wallen on the mound. Joe pitched 15 scoreless innings throughout the region tourney, throwing a compleate game shutout against Pikeville. Joe also picked up a win in relief in the region semi against Belfry and had a chance to get the win in the finals leaving the game with a 1-0 led.”
“Dating back to last June our kids were determined to get a chance at winning the 15th region championship and I just want to say how proud I am of their efforts throughout the off season and all season long. We played a very challenging schedule in hopes to prepare them to accomplish just that. However, we fell just short of our goals but that doesn’t mean the season was a failure. We ended up going 23-13 and words can’t tell how thankful I am for this bunch of kids. They’ve been a pleasure to coach and the future looks very bright. We graduated 2 outstanding seniors…Joe Wallen and Adam Cavins, and I’m confident both will go on to be successful in life and that’s the most important thing to me and our program. They are quality young men who come from great families and I’m thankful I’ve had an opportunity to be a part of their lives.
Sophomores Brock Turner and Chase Coverdale joined Joe Wallen for the all region tournament team. This is a great honor for all 3 of these kids as they all performed tremendous on a big time stage, as did many others on our team. Again very proud of them and all 22 kids that we dressed this post season.”
