Eagle Ridge Golf League News
Tuesday, May 27, a day that started as if we not going to be able to play because of the weather ended as beautiful evening with no rain. Johnson County and Wayne County both experienced Mother Nature’s wrath during the evening. Although there was not full league member participation, most golfers made their appearance.
The greens are now near their summer speed – fast!
I was fortunate enough to play with Bill England who made 2-birdies, and left a third right in the center of the cup, just a little short. My playing partner didn’t appear, so I hooked up with Bill England, Ronnie Wellman and J. Lynn See. On hole number 2, one of the skill holes, I was first to hit and my shot was within 5’ to 6’ from the hole; then Ronnie Wellman hit and he placed his shot on top of mine; then it was Bill England’s turn and he ended up 2-feet from the hole; finally J. Lynn hit and his shot was also within 6 or 7 feet of the hole. This is first time that I have ever seen this close a grouping of second shots for a foursome on hole number 2.
Now here are the results.
May 27, 2014:
Low Net Score (31) (Tie) Victor Swinney and Bill Jackson.
Low Gross Score (37) Dan Preece.
Closest to the pin (#17) Sam Sumptor
Longest Putt (#18) Victor Swinney
Closest to the pin (#3) Jim Allen
Longest Drive (#4) Ronnie Wellman
Closest 2nd shot (#2) Bill England
Greens in Regulation (6) (Tie) Ronnie Wellman, Bobby Preece, and Dan
It has been rumored that Clyde Adkins was seen practicing this past week. The boys “down at the poolroom” said that he is going to make his first appearance this coming week. I hope it is true.
