Lawrence Co Football Finishes 8-4
Belfry Turns Out The Lights Again
The Bulldogs wrapped up another season in what seems to feel like déjà vu all over again thanks to the #1 ranked Belfry Pirates.
Turnovers and inability to get off the field on 3rd and 4th down led to a 42-6 trouncing by the Pirates.
Much like the 1st matchup the Dawgs gave up a TD on 3rd and long the 1st series…fumbled the next kickoff and found themselves in a hole they never could see light out of. The lone bright spot was a Cyrus pass to the back of the endzone where Noah Lambert made an acrobatic catch in the rain for the Dawgs only TD.
Belfry will face Pike Central this week then probably their biggest test vs Bourbon to go to state. The other side of the bracket looks like it should probably be Wayne Co or South Warren (who has put up defensive stats I’ve never seen at this point in the season). They are giving up 4 PTS a game, 18 fumbles and 14 int’s!!
It was a tale of 2 seasons for the Dawgs going 7-0 to start the season (after a Fairview forfeit) but only going 1-4 the last 5 games with 2 of those losses to Belfry.

“We progressed this year as a program and need to continue momentum by taking the next step. I’m very grateful for everybody involved. This senior class has been very special and I’m going to miss them a lot,” Coach Cecil said.
“Thank you to all of our Sr football players+cheerleaders. We are grateful for the hard work you put in and the way you represented the Lawrence County Bulldogs!!
