Lady Dawgs vs Ashland
The Dawgs began last Tuesday hosting the 3rd ranked team in the 16th Region, the Ashland Kittens who are sporting a 21-9 record. LC felt confident with junior Michaelea Horn starting in the circle and 7th grader Ciana Bowen coming in to relieve the final 2 innings. The Lady Dawgs took a 3-1 lead into the 6th inning when things started falling a part for coach Horns squad which committed 5 errors that allowed the Kittens to jump out to a 5-3 lead and eventually being the final score.
Michaelea helped her cause out from the plate going 1-3 with an RBI. With LC getting only 3 hits in the game, freshman Addy Frazier went 1-2 with a run scored, while junior teammate Samantha Fitzpatrick belted a homerun over the right field fence going 1-2 with an RBI.
“The thing that got us today was defense, our pitchers done their job only allowing four hits,” said coach Horn. “The defense committed five errors and that was the difference in the game. Anytime you have a 3-1 lead in the sixth inning against a team like Ashland, you have played a good game. Ashland’s Megan Hensley is a top notch pitcher at the high school level. We had already beat them twice this season, it’s hard to get three wins vs the same team in one year, especially Ashland. We gave them this one!

“This was a good win, the top of the order carried us in this game, said coach Horn. “Savannah and Addy was on the bases every time they came to the plate. I can’t say enough about the effort that Savannah has given this season. She has been the toughest player on our team all season.”
