Tolsia’s Austin Brewer signs with Alice Lloyd
GLENHAYES, WV – A dream has come true for Tolsia Rebel basketball senior Austin Brewer. Brewer will further his basketball career at the collegiate level as he signed a letter of intent last Thursday, May 3rd to play for Alice Lloyd.
Brewer had friends and family gather in the library at Tolsia High School early that morning as Tolsia head coach Jason Hatfield and the Eagles head coach J.R. Hammond were by Brewers side as he signed.
Brewer averaged 9.8 points and 8 rebounds a game in his 4 yrs at Tolsia for his career and took part in the Rebels winning the Cardinal Conference last season. He also made two State Tourney appearances, once in the Elite 8 and the other being the Final Four. Brewer has made 3rd Team All-State, Honorable Mention the last two seasons, 1st Team Wayne Co. & Cardinal Conference also the past two seasons.
“It means a lot to me knowing I’m going to be playing basketball at the next level. I’ve worked really hard all my life for a thing like this to happen and it feels good to reach that goal of mine,” said Brewer.
The 6’7″ Brewer had a few other offers from schools but felt like Alice Lloyd was where he needed to be with the family setting as it felt like home to him. With being a freshman this fall to start the school year, Brewer could be a big asset to a Eagles team that finished the 2012-2013 campaign with a 11-19 record.
“Austin is a hard worker on the court and wants to improve his game as he has a lot of potential with room to grow. He is a great person and ball player and will be a valuable asset to Alice Lloyds program,” said former Tolsia coach Jason Hatfield.
