PAINTSVILLE, Ky. — Coach Roger Harless’ Lady Bulldogs split two important District games in the past week as they lost to Johnson Central 55-50 and ironically beat Magoffin County by the same score, 55-50 to run their season record to 15-6 overall and 3-5 in District 57 games.
The Lady Dawgs handled Magoffin County at Bulldog Arena last night after an early season loss to the Lady Hornets who are leading the district with a 6-2 record and are 11-9 overall. No scoring results were available today but the win keeps Lawrence County fourth in the five team District. Johnson Central and Sheldon Clark are both 4-2 and Paintsville is 0-5. (We will add the scoring as soon as we get it.)
A second straight 20 win season is also in sight as the Lady Dawgs have eight games to go with Piarist sporting a 4-12 record and a struggling Paintsville team, and winless (0-18) South Floyd included in those eight games as well as others the Lady Bulldogs should beat.
In the Central game played on Jan. 19, Savannah Cyrus and Kara Kirk scored 17 each and Cyrus also led in rebounds with seven, Kirk was next with six. Taylor Porter had 14 points on the night for Lawrence County.
The win over Magoffin County was the first of four straight home contests for Harless’ team as they play Piarist tonight at Bulldog Stadium at 7:30 pm.
