Daltons lead Bulldogs to win over Raceland, 66-56;
RACELAND, Ky. — Lawrence County held off the Raceland Rams on their home court Tuesday night 66-56 for their 13th win of the season and second over the Rams (7 – 11) in the Raceland Classic Tourney earlier in the season.
The Dawgs were again led by Robert (11 for 17) and Timmy Dalton (7 for 11)with 17 and 16 points respectively. Robert also led in rebounding with six. Grant Kiser and Brandon Richardson hit double figures with 10 each.
Robert Dalton is already being considered by state websites as among the top freshmen in the state. But Richardson, Kiser and point guard Austin Chaffin are also freshmen and are getting attention statewide as well. Timmy Dalton is an eighth grader.
First year head coach Josh Cook did not respond to messages for comment but he has to be pleased with the turnaround this season after two down years under previous coach David Miller. The Dawgs finished second in the All-A Classic at Pikeville two weeks ago.
The Bulldogs play again tomorrow night in a rematch with Magoffin County at Salyersville.
The Hornets got the best of Lawrence County in their first meeting of the season at Bulldog Arena, 63 – 60. The Bulldogs are 5-6 in the 15th region and 2-4 in District 57 play.
