Bulldogs lose squeaker to Pikeville in All-A Classic;
Four players in double figures not quite enough for Bulldog upset…
PIKEVILLE, Ky. — Coach Josh Cook’s youg Lawrence County Bulldogs came within a point of heading to the All-A Classic state tourney at Pikeville Saturday night but it wasn’t to be as Pikeville wriggled out a 68-67 win.
The Panthers were the pre-season favorite in Region 15.
The Bulldogs gave them all they wanted with four players in double digits. Robert Dalton led in scoring with 15 points and also grabbed four rebounds. Brandon Richardson (3-6 from 3-point range) and Timmy Dalton (6 boards) scored 13 apiece and point guard Austin Chaffin added ten.
Freshman Grant Kiser flipped in nine points and had a team leading seven rebounds and junior A.J. Cyrus had seven points for the 12-9 Bulldogs. Nine players saw action in the game.
Pikeville is now in the top position in Region 15 with a 13-7 overall record and 8-2 in the region. Lawrence County is 4th with a 12-9 record, and 5-6 in Region 15.
The Dawgs play at Raceland tonight (Tuesday, Jan. 22) as the first of three straight games on the road.
