James “Crow” Dixon

1964 - 2014

James “Crow” Dixon 49 of Louisa, KY passed away Sunday January 5, 2014 at his home. 

James was born March 12, 1964 at Louisa, the son of the late Russell and Joyce Kise Dixon. He was laborer and of the Baptist Faith.

Survivors include two daughters Amanda Nicole Dixon Wells of Louisa, and Mary Sue Dixon Alcius of Lexington, KY; a sister Vickie Shannon of Louisa; two brothers Ernie and Mark Dixon both of Louisa, and two grandchildren Nolan and Connor Webb.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday Jan. 8th at 1:00 pm at the Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Rick May officiating. Burial will follow in the Dixon Cemetery at Meades Branch.

Bobby Lee Marcum

1955 - 2013

Bobby Lee Marcum, 58, of Fort Gay, W.Va. passed away Thursday, January 2, 2014 at Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky. He was born September 17, 1955 in Louisa, Ky. a son of Joan Branham Marcum and the late Grover Cleveland Marcum. He was a retired machinist for N&S Railroad and he was a U.S. Navy Veteran.
 

Survivors include daughter, Shawna Lee Marcum of Fallsburg, Ky.; two sisters, Patty K. Dove of Fort Gay, W.Va.; Flara Pack of Fort Gay, W.Va.; two brothers, Grover C. Marcum Jr. of Radnor, W.Va.; James D. Marcum of Fort Gay, W.Va.; two Grandchildren, Piper Nevada Waugh and Leeland David Stone Waugh.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 PM Monday, January 6, 2014 at Fallsburg Tabernacle Church with Tommy Kitts officiating. Burial will follow at the Marcum Family Cemetery, Fort Gay, W.V.

Visitation will be after 4:00 PM Sunday at Fallsburg Tabernacle Church.

Roger Lee Bowen

1971 - 2014

Roger Lee Bowen, 42, of Louisa, Ky. passed away Thursday, January 2, 2014 at Three Rivers Medical Center in Louisa, Ky. He was born April 21, 1971 in Louisa, Ky. a son of Roy Lee and Mary Murphy Bowen. He was a member of Smith Chapel Church. He was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Lynn Bowen.

Survivors include his parents, Roy Lee and Mary Bowen of Louisa, Ky.; his loving wife, Martha Ellen Bowen of Louisa, Ky.; children, Shane Cobal of Michigan; Roger Lee Bowen II of Michigan; William Cody Bowen of Louisa, Ky.; Allyssa Lena Bowen also of of Louisa, Ky.; 4 Grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Sunday, January 5, 2014 at Young Funeral Home Chapel with Kenny Bailey officiating. Burial will follow at the Frasher Cemetery, Fort Gay, W.V.

Shirlene Prince

1966 -- 2013

Shirlene Prince, 47, of Denton, Kentucky passed away Thursday, January 2, 2014 at her home. She was born May 17, 1966 in Louisa, Ky. a daughter of the late Harmie and Norma Hughes Presley. She was a housewife.

Survivors include, her loving husband, Sam Prince of Denton, Kentucky; daughter, Samantha Artrip of Denton, Kentucky; son, Anthony Prince also of Denton, Kentucky; one Grandchild, Baile Artrip; brothers, Dale Presley of Louisa, Ky.; Johnny Presley of St. Albans, W.V.; Elvis Presley of Fort Gay, W.V.; sisters, Debbie Endicott of Fort Gay, W.V.; Darlene Patrick of Fallsburg, Ky.; Willie Shilling of St. Albans, W.V..

Doris A. Kitts

1934 - 2013

Doris A. Kitts, 79, of Fort Gay, W.V. passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky. She was born May 9, 1934 in Fort Gay, W.V. a daughter of the late Fred and Willie Belle Moore Parsons. She was a homemaker, and was a member of Old Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church and a member of Eastern Star.

Survivors include her loving husband of 60 years, Frank Kitts of Fort Gay, W.V.; children, Lee "Regina" Kitts, Norman Frank "Lisa" Kitts, Hattie "J.D." Marcum, Willa "Eugene" Salmons all of Fort Gay, W.V.; Sid "Mary" Kitts of Louisa, Ky.; Kathy "Herman" Crabtree of Fort Gay, W.V.; Daniel "Karla" Marcum of Fort Gay, W.V.; brother, Fred "Katherine" Parsons of Fort Gay, W.V.; 11 Grandchildren and 15 Great Grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Young Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery.

Clarence Edward "Eddie" Hale

1956 - 2013

Clarence Edward "Eddie" Hale, 57 of Louisa, KY. went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 1, 2014 surrounded be his loving family. Eddie was born May 18, 1956 in Dayton, Ohio a son of the late Douglas and Sena (Bowens) Hale. He worked at the Lawrence Co. Courthouse as a custodian and was of the Baptist Faith.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son; James Edward Hale, brother; Douglas Hale Jr., and a sister; Eunice Mayo.

He is survived by his loving wife Betty Hale,  daughter; Heather (Glenn) Fluty, step-son; Rodney (Rose) Frazier, sister; Melissa (Curtis) Boggs of Blaine, KY., brother; Homer (Margaret) Hale, granddaughter; Haley Mounts Hale, two grandsons; Conner and Devon Fluty and five step-grandchildren; Justin and Elizabeth Fluty, Patricia and Shelby Frazier and April Knight and two step-great grandchildren; Hannah and Haley Knight and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, January 3, 2014 at 2 pm at the Young Funeral Home Chapel with John Deboard Officiating.

Visitation will be on Thursday from 4-9 in the Young Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Hale-Ash Cemetery, Louisa, KY.

Millard Roberts, Jr.

1933 - 2013

Millard Roberts Jr., 80, of Louisa, KY passed away Sunday December 29, 2013 at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, KY. Millard was born March 25, 1933 in Louisa, the son of the late Millard Roberts and Inez Adams. He was retired from Armco Steel in the maintance department.

Survivors include his wife Anna Ham Roberts of Louisa, a brother Willard Hayward Roberts of Flatwoods, KY, two sister-in-laws Roxie Little and Hazel Damron both of Louisa, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Thursday Jan. 2, 2014 at the Yatesville Memorial Gardens with Rev. Pete Miller officiating.

Friends may call after 6:00 pm Wednesday Jan. 1, 2014 at the Wilson Funeral Home.

Claria Isaac

1924 - 2013

Claria Isaac, 89, of Fort Gay, W.V. passed away Sunday, December 29, 2013 at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. She was born June 21, 1924 in Fort Gay, W.V. a daughter of the late Arnold and Mamie Webb. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Bartram Chapel Church and also attended Isaac Park Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Sam J. Isaac.

Survivors include, three daughters, Judy Isaac of Fort Gay, W.V.; Christine "Billy" Cox of Rittman, Ohio; Dottie "Tony" Spitaleri of Rittman, Ohio; two sons, Truman "Bobbi" Isaac of Rittman, Ohio; Richard "Donna" Isaac also of Rittman, Ohio; one brother, Howard Webb of Barboursville, W.V.; 7 Grandchildren, 15 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Grandchild.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 PM Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at Salt Petre Church with Pastor Richard Maynard and Rev. Frank Copley officiating. Burial will follow at the Lynch Cemetery, Fort Gay, W.V..

Troy Edward Chafin

1945 - 2013

Troy Edward Chafin, 68, of Fort Gay, W.V. passed away Friday, December 27, 2013 at his home. He was born August 20, 1945 in Newtown, W.V., a son of the late Troy and Mary Alice Boyd Chafin. He was a coal miner, and was inducted into the National Mine Rescue Hall of Fame, he was a member of the New Life Outreach of Fort Gay and was also a member of the Fort Gay Lions Club.

Survivors include, his loving wife, Nancy Lou Lambert Chafin of Fort Gay, W.V.; two daughters, Allison "Mark" Hooser of Fort Gay, W.V,; Anita "Greg" Hatfield of Beckley, W.V.; sister, Joy Chafin Barber of Cleveland, Ohio; Grandchildren, Blake Hooser and Brad "Becca" Hatfield; extended family, Ted and Wanda Lambert of Fort Gay, W.V.; Teddy and Krista Lambert of Huntington, W.V.; Don and Thelma Lambert of Forest Hills Ky.; Bonnie and Bob Crigger of Danville, Ky.; Shelia and Jim Henson of Chatteroy, W.V.; A special family friend, Dave Hensley.

Nannie R. Skeens

1904 - 2013

Nannie R. Skeens of Tabors Creek, W.V. passed away December 18, 2013 at the home of her son, Morris M. Skeens of Centerville, Ohio, where she had resided for the past four years. She was born October 9, 1904, the daughter of the late Alex Robinette and late Flora Wellman Robinette.

She is survived by her son, Morris M.  Skeens, six grandchildren; Patty & Patrick Tiffan of Key West, Fla.; Nancy & Robert Mosier of Hillsboro, OR.; Karl & Susan Skeens of Gresham, OR.; Robert & Randi Skeens of Vancover, WA.; Alan Skeens of Beaverton, OR.; Pam Thaxton of St. Albans, W.V.; five great Grandchildren, Rachel Thaxton, Bill Thaxton of St. Albans, W.V.; Alexia Ortez of David CA.; Catlain, Elise Skeens of Camas, WA.; four great great Grandchildren, Sofia & Oryan Ortez of Davis CA.; Kit & Emma Grace Roberts of St. Albans, W.V.; She was preceded in death by her husband, Morris M. Skeens Sr. and all of her siblings. She was a life long member of the Spruce Lick Baptist Church, a graduate of Marshall University, she wasw an educator for 45 years, she enjoyed reading, and writing poetry and she wrote several books. She loved the art of teaching and exploring nature.

Visitation will be 6:00 til 8:00pm Friday, January 3, 2014 at Young Funeral Home , Louisa, Ky. and services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Young Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at the Wellman Cemetery, Fort Gay, W.V., conducted by a great nephew, Rick Gannon.

 

Kathy Wallace Mills

1954 - 2013

Kathy Wallace Mills, 59, of Louisa, Ky.  passed away Sunday Dec. 22, 2013 at Three Rivers Medical Center. 

Kathy was born Feb. 5, 1954 in Louisa, the daughter of the late Milza and Eliza Jane Pridemore Wallace. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband Joey Mills, two daughters Donna Maynard and Amy Gantt both of Louisa; a son Joseph Mills also of Louisa; three sisters Jackie Hammonds, Frances Castle, and Rachel McKenzie; a brother Mike Wallace.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Thursday Dec. 26th at noon at the McClure Cemetery Chapman, KY.

Arrangements are under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home.

 

Ruth Collie

1935 - 2013

Ruth Collie, 78, of Fort Gay, WV went to be with the Lord on Saturday December 21, 2013. 

Ruth was born July 20, 1935 at Webb, WV, the daughter of the late Christopher Columbus and Minnie Copley Bowens.  In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Beldon Monroe Collie Jr. who died in 1988, a sister, two brothers, and grandson Charles Edward Sammons II. Ruth was a homemaker and member of the Webb FWB Church.

Survivors include three daughters and son-in laws Linda and Bruce Crum of Stepptown, WV, Judith and Charles Sammons and Jessica and Eugene Justice all of Crum, WV; three sons Walter Collie, Gary and wife Kimberly Collie, and Larry and wife Hazel Collie all of Fort Gay, WV; a sister Thelma Mosley Hunt of Lorain, OH, eleven grandchildren Danny, Tonia, Chris, Jason, Dawn, Joseph, J.B., Tanner, Hayley, Braxton, and Bethany; eight great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday Dec. 24th at 11:00 am at the Webb FWB Church with Bro. Wayne Meddings, Bro. Everett Meddings, Bro. Kimble Copley, and Bro. Luther Dingess officiating. Burial will follow in the Joe Sammons Cemetery at Webb, WV.

Willis Napier

1932 - 2013

Willis Napier, 81, of Fort Gay, WV went to be with the Lord on Saturday December 21, 2013 at the Three Rivers Medical Center. Willis was born October 5, 1932 at Haney, WV the son of the late Elzie and Ella Napier. He retired from Inco Alloy maintance department, member of the Oak Grove Church, and served in the United State Army during the Korean War.

Survivors include his loving wife Wanda O’Brian Napier, a daughter Tina Perdue, five sons Willis Ray (Miranda) Napier, Rick (Charlotte) Napier, Doyle (Michelle) Napier, Carl Douglas (Darla) Napier, and David (Amy) Napier;  a brother Wilkie Napier, four sisters Effie Steele, Janice Branham, Anna Jean O’Brian, and Joyce Wellman, nine grandchildren Cassie Scaldaferri, Jeremy Napier, Carla Maynard, Jayson Napier, Mason Napier, Shaylan Napier, Shylah Napier,  Bobbi Renae Napier, and Jaylan Perdue; seven great grandchildren Cecily Napier, Sophia Napier, Chase Napier, Adrian Scaldaferri, Breeligh Napier, Aubrey Shea Napier, and Alexander Scaldaferri.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday Dec. 23rd at 2:00 pm at the Oak Grove Church with Rev. Mack Cyrus, Rev. Tom Kitts, and Rev. Luther Dingess officiating. Burial will follow in the O’Brian Cemetery at Fort Gay, WV.

1957 - 2013

Edgar Withrow Tingler, Jr. 56, of Louisa, KY. passed away Friday, December 20, 2013 at his home. He was born January 4, 1957 in Baltimore, Maryland, a son of the late Edgar Withrow Tingler, Sr. and Madeline Varney Setser. He was a laborer for Special Metals and a Army veteran and member of the American Legion post in Kenova, WV. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 3 brothers; Ben Amos, Garrett Keith Amos and Earl Tingler and one granddaughter; Kaisley Lynae Meddings.

Surviving is two daughters; Jessica Lynn and Steven Meddings of Catlettsburg, KY. and Jenae Nicole and Jarrod VanHoose of Louisa, KY. Grandchildren; Kaylynn Nicole Meddings, Steven Kyle Meddings, Jenna Marie VanHoose, and Jacob Allen VanHoose.

Funeral services will be 2pm Monday, December 23, 2013 at Young Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Richard Maynard officiating.

Visitation will be 11am till time of services on Monday. Burial will be in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Louisa, KY.

Elizabeth "Sister" Ann Frazier

1943 - 2013

Elizabeth "Sister" Ann Frazier, 70, of Prichard, W.V. passed away peacefully, Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington, W.V.. She was born November 11, 1943 in Glenhayes, W.V. a daughter of the late Chriss and Lexie Kidd James. She was a homemaker and was a member of Big Hurricane Missionary Baptist Church and a member of Eastern Star. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one daughter, Robin Lynn Morrison.

Survivors include, her loving husband, Winston D. Frazier of Prichard, W.V.; one son, Winston Todd (Amy) Frazier of Louisa, Ky.; one daughter, Francis Arlene (Jeff) Ward of Gahanna, Ohio; one brother, Wallace Ray James of Asheville, Ohio; one sister, Lena Mae "Tenny" Hooser of Chillocothe, Ohio; 7 Grandchildren, Peyton Ferguson, Timothy Morrison, Cody Ward, Joshua Morrison, Lexie Frazier, Tyler Ward and Addison Frazier.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 PM Friday, December 20, 2013 at Young Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tony Perry and Pastor Richard Maynard officiating. Burial will follow at Lakin Cemetery, Big Hurricane Creek.

Raymond Lee Osborne

1955 - 2013

Raymond Lee Osborne age 58 of Blaine, Kentucky passed away Tuesday December 17, 2013 at Three Rivers Medical Center.

Raymond was born Feb. 20, 1955 at Blaine, KY, the son of the late Hubert and Sylvia Sparks Osborne. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his late wife, Peggy Ann, and two sisters Taletha Faye Bates and Lucy Barker. He was a former Lawrence County Road Department employee and of the Baptist Faith.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law Tammy and Bobby Keeton of Blaine; a son and daughter-in-law Chris and Debbie Osborne of Blaine; two brothers Hubert Milton (Shirley) Osborne of Blaine and Jerry (Pam) Osborne of Ashland, KY; two half-brothers Harold (Tena) Osborne and Darrell Lowe both of Blaine; three half-sisters Patsy (Fred) Arrington of Blaine, Suzie (Larry Gene) Ratliff of Fallsburg, KY and Brenda (Danny) Slone also of Blaine; a granddaughter Totiona Keeton and two grandsons Jadan Keeton and Bradley Osborne, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday Dec. 20th at 11:00 am at the Cains Creek FWB Church with Bro. Ford McKenzie and Bro. Rodney King officiating. Burial will follow in the Osborne Cemetery at Blaine, KY.

Thomas Vance, 54, of Louisa, Ky. passed away Sunday, December 15, 2013 at his home. He was born November 24, 1959 in Columbus, Ohio a son of the late Hubert and Margaret York Vance. He was a mechanic, and was a member of Richardson Chapel Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sister, Anna Morris.

Survivors include his loving wife, Evelyn Sue McKenzie Vance of Louisa, Ky.; four sons, Billy Joe Vance, Charles Ray Vance, Thomas Vance Jr., and Timothy Gene Vance all of Louisa, Ky.; Grandchildren, Brody Lee Vance and Nevaeh Grace Vance; three sisters, Audrey Steiner, Donna Bailey, and Wilma Wilson all of Louisa, Ky.; two brothers, William Vance and Leburn Vance both of Louisa, Ky.;

Joey “Tiny” Morgan

1971 - 2013

Joey “Tiny” Morgan, 42, of Gilbert, WV passed away Friday December 13, 2013 at the Logan Regional Medical Center following a sudden illness. Joey was born July 26, 1971 at Mullins, WV, the son of Albert Joe and Jone Carol Blankenship Morgan. He was a logger.

In addition to his parents survivors include his wife Joni Hatfield Morgan, three sons Zachary, Joseph, and Seth Morgan all at home; and a daughter Kathlyn Morgan also at home; a brother Michael Morgan of Simon, WV, and a sister Lorie Mounts of Gilbert, WV. He was preceded in death by a son Patrick Morgan.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday Dec. 18th at 1:00 pm at the Carl Wolford Church by Bro. Billy Deskins and Bro. Greg Rice. Burial will follow in the Hatfield Cemetery at Horse Pen, WV.

Jeff Savage

1966 - 2013

Jeff Savage, 47, of Louisa, KY went home to be with the Lord Wednesday December 11, 2013 at Kings Daughters Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

Jeff was born August 5, 1966 in Columbus, Ohio, the son of Jess and Bertha Pack Savage. He was a heavy equipment operator for Pen Coal and of the Baptist Faith.

In addition to his parents he is survived by his loving wife Angie (Fluty) Savage, a son Jared Savage, a brother David (Della) Savage, and a sister Tina (Tommy) Ramey and many nieces and nephews. He was a loving husband and father who made it his priority for the care and happiness of his family.

Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday December 15th at 1:00 pm at the Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Workman and Rev. Jimmy Osborne officiating. Burial will follow in the Yates-Benard Cemetery at Louisa.

Cebron Browning, 76, of Prichard, WV. passed away Friday, December 13, 2013 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington, WV. He was born January 1, 1937 in Dunlow, WV. a son of the late Jennings Browning and Jessie Wallace Napier. He was a retired bus driver for the Wayne Co. Board of Education. He was also preceded in death by two brothers; Jay and Charles Browning, sister; Anita Jarvis and two grandchildren; Isaac and Kaytlyn.

Surviving is two sons; Dempsey Browning of Louisa, KY. and Charles Edward Browning of Fort Gay, WV. Brothers; Robert Maynard of Kenova, WV. , Elva Maynard of Ceredo, WV., Doug Browning of Columbus, Ohio, Sisters; Terry Thompson of Columbus, Ohio,  Barbara Ray of Circleville, Ohio and grandchildren; Amanda and Clayton Browning.

Funeral services will be 11am Monday at Young Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mack Ray Cyrus officiating. Burial will be in the Dan Wallace Cemetery at Dunlow, WV.

Alma Lee (Vipperman) Bevins Burgess

1930 - 2013

Alma Lee (Vipperman) Bevins Burgess age 83, of Annandale Virginia passed away December 5, 2013, at Golden Living Center. Alma was born November 13, 1930 at Belfry Kentucky, daughter of the late Okey and Rosetta Vipperman.

She was proceeded in death by two sisters JoAnn (Bunkie) Clark, Jeanette Farley and her husband Richard Burgess.

She is survived by two daughters, Shirley (Randle) Anselmi, Dreama (Wayne) Morefield, one son, Rickie (Lyndella) Bevins, two sisters Nancy Marchant, Phyllis DiMauro, eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and her good friend Virginia Ralston.

Alma was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother whose primary goal in life was the happiness of her family.

Graveside services will be conducted at a later time at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington DC.

 

Dianna Jean McClary Robertson

1947 - 2013

Dianna Jean McClary Robertson, 66, of Fort Gay, W.V. passed away November 5, 2013 at her home. She was born October 18, 1947 in Columbus, Ohio a daughter of the late Ivan and Anita Schaffer McClary. She was a homemaker and was a member of Oak Grove Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Robertson; daughter, Janet Lynn Robertson;
 

Survivors include, one daughter, Barbara Robertson of Fort Gay, W.V.; one son, Frank Jr. Robertson of Fort Gay, W.V.; sisters, Donna Lowe of Chillicothe, Ohio; Mary Samborsky of Ohio; brothers, Mike McClary of Florida; Danny McClary of Columbus, Ohio.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Friday, December 13, 2013 at Oak Grove Church with Rev. Mack Ray Cyrus officiating. Burial will follow at the Robertson Cemetery, Fort Gay, W.V.

Visitation will be after 5:00 pm Thursday at Oak Grove Church.

Rickie Lee Webb

1979 - 2013

Rickie Lee Webb, age 34, of Louisa, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at the Community Hospice Care Center of Ashland, KY.  Rickie was born December 5, 1979 in Ashland , KY. He is the son of Lee and Lois (Isaac) Webb.  
 
In addition to his parents Rickie is survived by his brother Marcus Webb of Louisa, a sister Leah Webb also of Louisa,  and his grandfather, Herbert Webb of Fort Gay, West Virginia.
 
Rickie is preceded in death by his Maternal Grandparents, Rev. Gallie and Helen Isaac and his paternal grandmother Lydia Webb.
 
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Tuesday December 10th  at the Isaac Park Church.  Bro Mack Ray Cyrus and Bro Tommy VanHoose will be officiating.
 
Burial will follow in the Isaac Park Cemetery.
 
Friends may call after 5:00pm on Monday December 9th at the Isaac Park Church.

Virginia Ruth Adkins

1931 - 2013

Virginia Ruth Adkins of Louisa, Ky. passed away at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland on December 6th, 2013.

She was born on January 19, 1931 in Richardson, Ky. to Arch and Ferbie Borders. She was a homemaker and loving mother to eight children. She also had a big part in raising one granddaughter, Kirsten Clancy of Chapel Hill, North Carolina. She loved each and every child and made sure there was always plenty to eat for everyone. Going to flea markets was her biggest enjoyment. She was preceded in death by three children, Eddie, Jody, and Sandy.

Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Dallas Adkins and sister Nell Borders of Louisa. Surviving children include, Archie Adkins of Louisa, Freddie Adkins of Louisa, Gloria Jean Christian of Louisa, Doris Burchett of Louisa, and Steve Adkins of Louisa.

At her request, there will be no visitation and a graveside service will be held at Pinehill Cemetery, Sunday, December 8, 2013 at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers please contribute to your local humane society or Community Hospice Care Center. 2330 Pollard Rd., Ashland, Ky. 41101.

Juanita Elizabeth McGranahan

1941 - 2013

Juanita Elizabeth McGranahan, 72, of Louisa, Ky. passed away Thursday, December 5, 2013 at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. She was born October 17, 1941 in Catlettsburg, Ky. a daughter of the late Andy and Laura Hicks Lemons. She was a homemaker. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack McGranahan who passed away in 2006.

Survivors include, daughter, Nancy Newsome of Louisa, Ky.; two sons, Jackie McGranahan of Louisa, Ky.; Andrew Vanover of Indiana; sister, Dora Dowdy of Catlettsburg, Ky.; Granddaughter, Elizabeth Newsome; Great Grandson, Christopher Waddle.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Sunday, December 8, 2013 at Garrett Chapel Church with Pastor Willie May officiating. Burial will follow at the McGranahan Cemetery, Louisa, Ky.

Visitation will be 6:00 til 9:00 PM Saturday at Young Funeral Home.
