Grace Irene Rowe, 90, of Fort Gay, W.Va. passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at her home.

She was born February 16, 1922 in Whitehouse, Ky. a daughter of the late James and Pearl Osborne Lemaster. She was a housewife and a member of Fort Gay Methodist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Bill J. Rowe; daughter, Donna Daniels and sister, Edith Copley.
 

Survivors include five daughters, Carol Hughes of Greenup, Ky.; Jane Arbogast of Creston, Ohio; Phyllis Lynch of Haverhill, Ohio; Mary Ellen Artrip of Fort Gay, W.Va.; Lois Ekers also of Fort Gay, W.Va.; three sons, Robert Rowe of Wheelersburg, Ohio; James Rowe of Tomball, TX.; Paul David Rowe of Fort Gay, W.Va.; two brothers, Bural Lemaster of Fort Gay, W.Va.; Oscar Lemaster of Rittman, Ohio; 20 Grandchildren, 42 Great Grandchildren and 4 Great Great Grandchildren.

The family would like to express a special Thank You to the wonderful careworkers, Christine Evans, Tracy Boyd, Margret Bond and Deborah Gauze.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Sunday, December 16, 2012 at Young Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Frank Copley officiating. Burial will follow at the Rowe Family Cemetery, Fort Gay. W.Va..

Ella Goble Muncy

1930 - 2012

Ella Goble Muncy, 82, passed away Monday, December 10, 2012 at her home on Mattie Road, Louisa, Ky, following a long illness. She was born March 20, 1930 in Martin County to the late James and Pearl Goble. She was a housewife. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers; Richard, Eldon, Kenton, Ellis, Rabon and Abraham Goble and sisters; Evelyn Preston and Mary Griffing.

She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Sam Muncy, her sister, Dixie (Bill) Cumbo, Columbus, Ohio, five sons; Eldon Muncy, Sam (Anita) Muncy, Jr., James Stone, Joseph Stone, and Sam Michael Muncy, all of Louisa, Ky., four daughters; Ellen McCoy, Columbus, Ohio, Peggy (Charles Ray) Sammons and Pearlie (Danny) Diamond of Louisa, Ky., and Brenda Grim of Flat Gap, Ky. and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.

Anniebell Robertson Snow

1923 - 2012

 

Anniebell Robertson Snow, 89, of Genoa. W.Va. passed away Thursday, December 6, 2012 at JJ Jordan Geriatric Center in Louisa, Ky. She was born June 2, 1923 in Genoa, W.Va. a daughter of the late Everett and Molly Robinson Robertson. She was a housewife. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Snow, two stepsons; Delman Lewis Snow, and George Earl Snow, two brothers; Sideny Robinson and Charlie Robinson and one sister.

Survivors include two sons; Lonnie Kenny Robertson, Indianapolis, Ind., and Ralph (Dianne) Snow of Genoa, W.Va., three stepsons; Selvan Gene Snow, Jay (Rose) Snow, and Franklin Stewart (Dorseen) Snow, all of Genoa, W.Va., three stepdaughters; Roberta Eloise Moore, Peggie (Charles) Curnutte, and Maggie Lee Snow, all of Genoa, W.Va., three granddaughters; Sabrina Nikita Snow, Genoa, W.Va., Annie Haga and Jenni Wilbur, both of Indianapolic, Ind., ten grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

Gravesite services will be conducted 2:00 pm Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at the Snow Cemetery, Genoa, W.Va. with Rev. Buck Maynard officiating.

Visitation will be 6:00 til 9:00 pm Tuesday at Young Funeral Home, Louisa, ky.

Tommy Lee Boyd, Jr.

1970 - 2012

 

Tommy Lee Boyd, Jr.,"Tombo" age 42, of Louisa, died Thursday, December 6, 2012 at Kings Daughters Medical Center of Ashland, KY. Tommy was born April 10, 1970 in Louisa, KY., the son of Tommy Lee and Connie (Sluss) Boyd who survive.

He was the owner of Tombo's Trucking.

He is also survived by his loving wife: Bonnie (Hammond) Boyd and two daughters: Laura Boyd Hall of Louisa, KY and Kendra Pope of Greenup, KY, his parents and one special granddaughter, McKenzie.


The funeral will be held 2:00 pm on Sunday, December 9, 2012 at Wilson Funeral Home, Louisa, KY with Bro. Everett Swafford officiating. Burial will be in Bradley Cemetery, Louisa.

Ancel Dee Thompson

1934 - 2012

Ancel Dee Thompson, 78, of Genoa, W.Va. passed away December 6, 2012 at his home in Mill Creek, W.Va. after a sudden illness. Born July 1, 1934, in Beauty, Ky. a son of the late Bert and Edna Pratt Thompson he was a bus driver for the Wayne County Senior Citizens Center. He was a member of the Isaac Park Frewill Baptist Church.

Survivors include his loving wife of 40 years, Inez L. Maynard Thompson, five sons; Clethith Dee Thompson, Tennessee, Gary Lee Thompson, Michigan, Phillip Darrell Thompson, Virginia, Timothy Thompson, Ohio, and Kennith Thompson, Genoa, W.Va., four sisters; Gen Noe, Sidney, Ohio, Katherine Scoggins, Sumpter, S.C., Wanda Hundley, Genoa, W.Va., and Joyce Phillips, Genoa, W.Va., one stepdaughter, Debbie Watts, Ft. Gay, W.Va., four stepsons; Bill Osborne, Genoa W.Va., Gary Osborne, Ft. Gay, W.Va., Tim Osborne, Genoa, W.Va., and Dwight Osborne, Ft. Gay, W.Va., eight grandchildren, 18 step grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Sunday Dec. 9, 2012 at Rush Branch Church, Genoa, W.Va. with Rev. Tom Kitts and Rev. Roger Maynard officiating. Burial will follow at Damron Community Cemetery, Genoa, W.Va. under the direction of Young Funeral Home.

Willis Allen Caperton

1946 - 2012

Willis Allen Caperton, 66, of Louisa, Ky. passed away Dec. 2, 2012 at Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky. after a short illness. Born February 7, 2012 in Louisa, he was a son of the late John Allen and Thelma Louisa Martin Caperton. He was a retired U.S. Customs agent.

Survivors include his loving wife of 44 years Lois Jean Caperton, Louisa, Ky., two sons; Charles Caperton, Catlettsburg, ky., Scott Caperton, West Palm Beach, Fla., and 10 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012 at Young Funeral Chapel with Bro. David Maynard officiating. Burial will follow at Meeks Cemetery, Louisa, Ky. under the direction of Young Funeral Home.

Visitation will be noon - 2:00 Wednesday with family gathering at 11:00 am at Young Funeral Home.

Roger Lee "Dooley" Ratliff

1958 - 2012

 

Roger Lee Ratliff, "Dooley" age 53, of Louisa died Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at Kings Daughters Medical Center of Ashland, KY. Mr. Ratliff was born December 15, 1958 in Phelps, KY. He is the son of the late Columbus and the late Minnie Pearle (Charles) Ratliff.

He was a Laborer and a member of the National Labor Union Local 1445.

He is survived by his wife: Beverly (Riffe) Ratliff, one daughter: Bobbi Jean Johnson of Louisa, KY and one son: Ferresse Riffe of Paintsville, KY; He also has four grandchildren, two Sisters and eight Brothers

The funeral will be held 1:00 pm on Saturday, December 1 at Wilson Funeral Home with Bro. Jack Savage officiating. Burial will be in the Ratliff Cemetery, Louisa Ky.

Carl Kemp Little, Jr.

1931 - 2012

Carl Kemp Little, Jr., 81, of Waynesboro, VA, formerly of Fort Gay and Kenova, WV, passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2012, at home. He was born April 25, 1931, in Inez, KY, son of the late Carl and Blanche Cassidy Little. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Minerva Maynard Little, and siblings Oretha Kirk, Romaine Mills, Helen Jones, Ernestine Copley, and James Little.

Mr. Little retired from the WV Department of Health and Human Resources in 1988, after serving as Administrator for Wayne, Mingo, and Cabell Counties. He was very active in the community and served on many advisory boards including; former Chairman of the Board for Valley Health Systems; former board member and Chairman of the Board for Community Action Council of Wayne County; former board member of River Valley Child Development Services; charter board member of the Wayne County Headstart Program. He had been a member of the Louisa United Methodist Church in Louisa, KY, since 1978, and had regularly attended Spring Valley Presbyterian Church of Huntington, WV, since 2000.

He is survived by his children; Jacquie (Joseph) Romano, Kevin (Danielle) Little, Tonji (Ron) Bowen, and Trevor (Holly) Little. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Brooke (Daniel) Retana, Josephine Buscemi, Monique Buscemi, Mackenzie and Sophie Little, Bradey and Nicholas Bowen, Logan, Carson and Clara Little and siblings; Franklin Little, Yvonne McCoy, and Betty (Richard) Konieczko, as well as a brother-in-law, Darrell (Virginia) Maynard. In addition, Mr. Little is survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday Nov. 30, 2012 at Young Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Rick Wilson. Burial will follow at the Maynard-Frazier Family Cemetery, Glenhayes, WV.

Visitation will be 6-9 Thursday at Young Funeral Home.

Roy Glendon Holbrook

1919 - 2012

Roy Glendon Holbrook, 93, of Louisa, Ky. passed away Monday, November 26, 2012 at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. He was born June 28, 1919 in Ashland, Ky. a son of the late Azel and Pearl Ross Holbrook. He was an operator for Tennessee Gas Transmission Co. He was a United States Navy WWII Veteran. Roy was a life long produce farmer, and served as a Lawrence County Magistrate for two terms, he also was on the Farm Bureau Committee for 50 plus years. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Victoria S. Holbrook who passed away in 2011, and also preceded by brother, Ray E. Holbrook.

Survivors include, two daughters, Carol H. (Todd) Ward of Louisa, Ky.; Glenda H. (Joe) Blackgrove of Warner Robins, GA.; Grandchildren, Christi, Van, Kimber, Rob, and Cara; Great Grandchildren, Cameron, Kylie, Caden, Anthony, Luke, Liam, Mia, and Lorelei.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday, December 1, 2012 at Young Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ric Frazier officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Louisa.

Idabelle Berry

1925 - 2012

Idabelle Berry, 87, of Sand Branch Road, Louisa, Ky. died November 19, 2012 after a short illness. She was born Oct. 8, 1925 at Fallsburg, Ky. a daughter of the late Lewis and Cora Denfield Fannin. She was a housewife and a nurse's aid at Humana Hospital in Louisa, Ky. during her working years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Berry who passed away in 2008.

Surviving are one daughter, Deborah Adkins, Louisa, Ky., one son, Jack L. Berry, Louisa, Ky. one sister, Avanell Hunt, Carroll, Ohio and one grandchild, Daniel Berry.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Saturday, November 24, 2012 at Young Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ralph Hogston and Rev. Noah Wilks officiating. Burial will follow at Berry Cemetery, Louisa, Ky.

Visitation will be 4 - 9 pm Friday, November 23 at Young Funeral Home, Louisa, Ky. with family gathering at 3:00 pm.

FORT GAY — James Daniel Robertson, 40, of Fort Gay, W.Va., died Sunday at his residence. He was born March 8, 1972 in Louisa, Ky. a son of Vernon Lee and Athelene Williamson Robertson Sr. He was a landscaper for Castle Lawn Care. He was preceded in death by one brother, Vernon Lee Robertson and one sister, Bernice Bartram.

Survivors include his parents, Vernon Lee and Athelene Robertson Sr. of Ft. Gay, W.Va., wife Rebecca Robertson, two daughters; Aleasha Michelle Dawn Robertson, of Ft. Gay, W.Va. and Christy Lane Robertson of Shelby, NC., one son, Matthew Steven Robertson of Shelby, NC., five sisters; Teresa Clay, Louisa, Ky., Rachel Robertson, Doris Hale, Ft. Gay, W.Va, Fannie Napier, Louisa, Ky., Polly Robertson, Ft. Gay, W.Va., three brothers; Rodney Robertson, Emmanual Robertson, both of Ft. Gay, W.Va. and Robert Robertson, Blaine, Ky. bestfriends Angel, Olive and Athelene, and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012 at Oak Grove Church in Fort Gay with Rev. Luther Dingess and Rev. Roger Watts officiating. Burial will follow at the Robertson Cemetery.

1963 - 2012

Olin Keith Elliott, 49, of Louisa, Ky. passed away Monday, November 12, 2012 at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, W.Va. He was born Sept. 8, 1963 in Floyd County Kentucky, a son of Betty Jo Kidd Elliott and the late Garland Elliott. He was the owner of O.K. Sanitation Co. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include his mother, Betty Jo Elliott of Louisa, Ky.; one son, Adam Blair of Louisa, Ky.; one daughter, Shounda Elliott also of Louisa, Ky.; Good Friend, Lora Ann Blair of West Virginia; one sister, Josephine Elliott of Louisa, Ky.; two brothers, Kenneth Elliott and Eddie Elliott both of Louisa, Ky., and two Grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Friday Nov. 16, 2012 at Young Funeral Home Chapel by Mike Fyffe. Burial will follow at the Elliot Cemetery at Buchanan, Ky.

Phyllis C. “Peggie” New

1944 - 2012

Phyllis C. “Peggie” New 68 of Prichard, WV passed away Friday Nov. 9, 2012 at Cabell Huntington Hospital following a brief illness.

Peggie was born July 5, 1944 at Zanesville, OH the daughter of the late John Willis and Kathryn Wells Shaw. She was a mother, homemaker and attended the Big Hurricane Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a sister Margie Strohacker.

Survivors include her husband H. P. “Corky” New, two daughters Michelle (Marc) Workman of Fort Gay, WV and Katie (Scott) Jenkins of Virginia; a son John (Linda) New of Florida; grandchildren Savannah, Mollie, and Lydia Workman, Kendall and Zack New, Dillon and Ethan Jenkins; sisters Patricia Withers and Jackie Fleming both of Ohio and Myrna Granger of North Carolina, and a brother John Shaw.

A Celebration of Life will be held Monday November 12th at 1:00 pm at the Big Hurricane Baptist Church with Pastor Tony Perry officiating. Friends may visit with the family after 4:00 pm Sunday at the Wilson Funeral Home.

Villia “Joyce” Scarberry

1926 - 2012

Villia “Joyce” Scarberry, 86, of Louisa, died peacefully on Tuesday, November 6, 2012, at Clark Regional Medical Center in Winchester, Kentucky, after a brief illness. Joyce was born on May 13, 1926 in Fort Gay, W.Va. to the late Wallace and Pearl Salisbury Peck. She had 6 siblings which predeceased her, and one surviving sister, Ardith Copley of Fort Gay, West Virginia.

Joyce was known for her ease in frequent conversation with even total strangers and an entertaining sense of humor. Throughout her life she maintained a demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many. Her signature gift of honesty will never be forgotten. Joyce married her sweetheart, the love of her life and soul mate, James “Bud” Scarberry, and the couple was married on March 6, 1948, and were never far apart from one another. Married for 64 years, Bud and Joyce raised their 3 dear children, Pat, David, and Beverly. Joyce faithfully cared for family and friends through her delicious cooking/baking from scratch- including her signature apple pie. Joyce loved to chat with friends and family, gardening, quilting, traveling, and especially loved spending time with her beloved grandchildren. She was the heart of the family.

Her surviving family members include, her husband of 64 years, James “Bud” Scarberry of Louisa, Ky.; Mother of 3 children and spouses, Patricia (Jerry) Derifield of Louisa, Ky.; David (Norma) Scarberry of Georgetown, Ky.; and Beverly (Richard) Pope of Winchester, Ky.; Grandmother to 5, Brad (Angel) Derifield, Kelli (Brian) Blair, Justin (Shana) Scarberry, Sarah Pope and Rikki Pope. Great-Grandmother to 6, Jake and Gray Derifield, Brylee and Beau Blair, Corbin Lee and Lelani Floyd.

Visitation for friends and family will be Friday, November 9th from 12:00 til 2:00 PM at Young Funeral Home Chapel, services to follow. Burial at Greenlawn Cemetery. Young Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers and support in many heart-felt forms- either through prayer and/or visits, neighbors, and even random acts of kindness. Joyce will forever be remembered as Our Angel that lived, laughed, and loved. Her legacy will live on in each life that was touched by her.

Maxine Payton

1934 - 2012

Maxine Payton, 77, of Marengo, Ohio passed away Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at Bennington Glen Care facility in Marengo, Ohio. She was born December 13, 1934 at Brushy, Ky., a daughter of the late Walter and Sarah Griffith Thompson. She was also preceded in death by her husband Frederick Payton who died in 2001. She was a nurse during her working years.

Survivors include one daughter, Connie Ballman, Columbus, Ohio, one son, Donnie Colwell-Adams, Mills, Ohio, two granddaughters, two brothers; Everette Thompson, Canal Winchester, Ohio, Sebert Thompson, London, Ohio, and one sister, Sue Booth, Indiana.

Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 pm Thursday, November 1, 2012 at Payton Cemetery, Blaine Ky. by Ralph Cordial.

Ivan Butcher

1930 - 2012

Ivan Butcher, 82, of Mulberry Ave. Louisa, KY went to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday October 27, 2012.

Ivan was born January 31, 1930 at Paintsville, KY, the son of the late Beacher and Ollie Williams Butcher. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by eight brothers and four sisters. He was a member of the Friendship United Baptist Church. He joined the church on June 8, 1957 being ordained as a mininster in May 1965. He was an electrician by trade retiring from the Elliot Company.

Survivors include his loving wife Ann Colvin Butcher; a daughter Jane Butcher of Meally, KY, two sisters Georgene Barnette of Lexington, KY and Anita Gay Walters and husband Frank of Miamisburg, OH, a brother Douglas Butcher and wife Opal of Meally, KY and two favorite nephews Steve and Dave Butcher both of Meally, KY.

Funeral services will be conducted by Elders Flem Allen Arrowwood and Glen Pennix on Tuesday October 30th at 11:00 am at the Wilson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery at Louisa.

Danny Randall Staley

1991 - 2012

DANNY RANDALL STALEY, 21, of Fort Gay, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 20, 2012. Born April 22, 1991, in Huntington, W.Va., he was a 2009 graduate of Tolsia High School and proudly employed at Steel of West Virginia. Preceding him in death were his grandfathers Danny Randall Mead and Benjamin D. Staley, and one aunt Frances Lee Andreae.

Danny leaves behind his loving parents, Greg and Reta Staley; his sister Christy Staley and Jeremy Smith of Fort Gay; maternal grandparents Homer and Betty Walker of Huntington, W.Va.; paternal grandmother Genevieve Staley, also of Fort Gay; aunt Lisa Brewer and her husband Darrell of Prichard, W.Va.; uncle Larry Nichols of Huntington; five great-aunts and one great-uncle who loved him dearly; and numerous special cousins and friends who loved him.

Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 23, 2012, at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home, Wayne, W.Va. Burial followed in the Staley Family Cemetery, Fort Gay.

Frank Lilly Jr.

1927 - 2012

Frank Lilly Jr., 85, of Webbville, Ky. went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at VA Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va.. He was born January 14, 1927 in Ward, W.Va. he was the son of the late Frank Sr. and Edna Hill Lilly. He was a retired painter and a US Army Veteran. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Lenoria "Birdie" Jean Lilly Scaggs, a grandson, Jason Allen Brooks, 2 sisters and 2 brothers.

Survivors include his loving wife of 42 years, Patricia Daniels Lilly of Webbville, Ky.; five daughters, Kimberly (Tim) Clark, Jessica (Jimmy) Sexton both of Webbville, Ky.; Elizabeth (James) Johnson of Hitchins, Ky.; Regina (Joe) Warden of Teays Valley W.Va.; and Debbie (Doug) Maynard of Milton, W.Va.; 16 grandchildren, Kevin Scaggs, Tyler and Audrey Griffith,; Jadence, Blayden and Kyleigh Clark,; J.R., Tristen, Ryker and Keylee Sexton,;Quentin, Jayleigh and Branlon Johnson; Jeremy Brooks; Krissie Maynard; and Sara Casebolt. 6 great grandchildren and 2 sisters.

He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Patty Ann Levering Fugitt

1965 - 2012

Patricia Ann Levering Fugitt, 47, of Louisa, passed away Monday, October 22, 2012 at Three Rivers Medical Center. She was born March 3, 1965 in Columbus, Ohio to Albert and Minnie (Merritt) Levering. She was a housewife and was married to husband, Paul Fugitt for 26 years.

Besides her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Samantha Fugitt of Louisa, Ky., four brothers; Jerry, Bill, Kevin, and Bobby Levering, all of Louisa, Ky.

Visitation will be Wednesday, October 24, 2012, from 3:00 - 9:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home. Family will gather at 2:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 25, 2012 at the Young Funeral Home chapel with Elder Darrell Ratcliff officiating. Burial will follow in the Perry Cemetery at East Lynn, West Virginia.

Teresa Anne Adkins

1945 - 2012

Teresa Anne Adkins, age 67, of Louisa, died Sunday, October 21, 2012 at Community Hospice Care Center of Ashland, KY. Teresa was born March 17, 1945 in Atlanta, GA. She is the daughter of the late Clyde Samuel and the late Ella Jean (Beck) Noland. She married Clyde E. Adkins.

She was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband: Clyde E. Adkins and two daughters: Jennifer Sue Stinebring of Louisa, KY, Joanie Adkins of Louisa, KY; Sister of one sister, Karen Rogers of Jackson, GA, and two brothers; Alan R. Lanier of GA, Rodney Lanier of AL.

The funeral will be held 2:00 pm on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at Wilson Funeral Home Inc., 1270 Hwy 2565, Louisa, KY with Rev. Ron Burger officiating. Burial will be in Adkins Cemetery, Louisa, KY.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, October 24 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Wilson Funeral Home Inc., 1270 Hwy 2565, Louisa, KY.

William Sherman Moore

1930 - 2012

William Sherman Moore, age 82, of Louisa, died Monday, October 22, 2012 at home in Louisa. William was born October 1, 1930 in Gallup, KY. He is the son of the late Lee and the late Georgia (Meade) Moore.

He was a timber cutter and member of the Cherryville Missionary Baptist Church

He is survived by several nieces and nephews,.

The funeral will be held 2:00 pm on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at Cherryville Missionary Baptist Church, Louisa, KY with Dr. Charles Price officiating. Burial will be in McClure Cemetery, Louisa, KY.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, October 23 from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Cherryville Missionary Baptist Church.

Joseph "Joe" Allen Pigg

1949 - 2012

Joseph "Joe" Allen Pigg, 62, of Louisa, passed away Sunday, October 21, 2012 at his home following a short illness. He was born December 8, 1949 in Louisa, Ky., the son of the late Joseph W. and Josephine Jolliffe Pigg. He was also preceded in death by a brother, John Wallace Pigg.

Joe is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Rita McCloud Pigg; daughter, Kara (Chris) Prichard, of Centerville, Va.; son, Joseph Brandon (Dawn) Pigg, of Mansfield, Ohio; 4 Grandchildren, Logan and Chase Prichard and Jackson and Carson Pigg; one brother, Jim (Teresa) Pigg, of Louisa, Ky., and 2 nieces and 1 nephew.

He retired from Norfolk-Southern Railroad in 2010, after 35 years of faithful service.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Wednesday at Young Funeral Home Chapel with Tom Baisden officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be 6:00 til 9:00 PM Tuesday at Young Funeral Home.

 

Walter Triplett

1939 - 2012

Walter Triplett, 73, of Louisa passed away Friday Oct. 19, 2012 at his home following a sudden illness.

Walter was born Feb. 11, 1939 in Jobe, KY, the son of the late Andy and Rebecca Marcum Triplett. In addition to his parents Walter is preceded in death by two brothers, Turner and Arovel Triplett and four sisters; Geraldine Russell, Nancy Copley, Violet Triplett and Roxie Triplett. He was a retired with Continental Can Corp.

Survivors include a daughter Vanessa (Tony) Butera of Grove City, OH, three sons; Charles (Rosalia) Triplett of Bellvue, NB, Richard (Angie) Triplett of Louisa, KY and David (Michelle) Triplett of Amanda, OH, three sisters; Sally Adams of Columbus, OH, Lona (Clifford) Kitchen and Eloise (Kenneth) Beck both of Louisa, KY, two brothers; Oscar (Sue) Triplett and Phil (Donna) Triplett also of Louisa. He has six grandchildren; Joshua Stewart, Jessica Triplett, Laura Triplett, Ryan Triplett, Tiffany Triplett, and James Triplett, and a great grandson, Ethaniel David. He has several nieces and nephews including “his boys” Drew and Joey.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday Oct. 24th at 11:00 am at the Chaffins Cemetery at Route 707 Louisa, KY with Rev. Jimmy Osborne officiating.

Opal Virginia France

1926 - 2012

Opal Virginia France, 86, of Louisa, KY went to be with her Lord on Friday Oct. 19, 2012. Opal was born April 22, 1926 in Red Jacket, WV, the daughter of the late Charles Compton and Ethel Smith Lee. She was a homemaker and worked as an adult day care aide. She was also a member of the Church of Christ.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Joseph France, who died in 1995, a son, Otis, a grandson, Joey, two great granddaughters, Melissa and Heather; sisters Beulah, Sara Ann, Oma, Hazel, and brothers Charles, Ernest and Billy.

She is survived by her loving family, two daughters and son-in-laws; Geneva and Mike Coleman of Pikeville, KY and their children Sam, Eddie (Patricia), Jody (Kris), Sean (Mary) and Tom Dyckes of Columbus, OH and their children Connor, Jason, and Ethan, two sons and daughters-in-laws; Charlie James and Karen France of Louisa and their children Shantella (Eric) and Charlie II and Jesse and wife Brenda France of Pembroke, Ga and their children Sherry (Derrick), Steven (Robyn), Jason (Michelle), and Jack (Mita), and her deceased son, Otis,  Dr. Brian Francis and wife Allison; 26 great grandchildren, three sisters; Mary Lou Backer of Greenville, S.C., Betty Mae Music Branham of Parkersburg, WV, and Phygenia King of Gladstone, MO. She also has a host of Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. France will be conducted on Monday Oct. 22nd at 11:00 am at the Wilson Funeral Home with her son Rev. Jesse France officiating. Burial will follow in the France Family Cemetery at Louisa.

John Paul Pfost

1946 - 2012

John Paul Pfost, 66, of Louisa went to be with his Lord Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at his home following a short illness. He was born July 22, 1946 in Louisa, Ky. the son of the late John E. and Louisa Crank Pfost. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Warren Douglas Pfost.

He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years Rose Chaffin Pfost, three sons; John Paul Pfost II (Amanda), Travis Bryan Pfost (Casey), and Joshua Wade Pfost all of Georgetown, Ky., two grandsons; Paydon Bryce Pfost and Jonathan Zander Pfost and one granddaughter, Olivia Rose Pfost, one sister, Glenna Smith (Harry), of Louisa, Ky., and several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

John retired from AK Steel after 39 years of service and was retired from the military with 20 years of service. He was a Kentucky Colonel and avid supporter and volunteer of the Boy Scouts of America.

Funeral services will be Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Young Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Glen Vanhoose and Bro. Jerry Hughes officiating. Burial will follow at Derefield Cemetery, Louisa, Ky. under the direction of Young Funeral Home, Louisa, Ky.


Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 19, 2012 from 4:00 pm - 9:00 pm. at Young Funeral Home.
