Phyllis Price 

1927 - 2016

Phyllis Price, 89, of Nats Creek went home to be with the Lord on Friday July 22, 2016 surrounded by her loving family.

Phyllis was born April 15, 1927 at Auxier, KY a daughter of the late Reck and Goldie Price Childers. She was a homemaker and a member of the Richardson Chapel Primitive Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Cecil Price who died in 2001, a grandson Jeffery Borders, and a son-in-law Peanut Borders.

Survivors include three daughters; Juanita Borders, Judy Burgess and husband Mark, and Gail Boyd all of Louisa, a son Dr. Charles W. Price and wife Ruby also of Louisa; a special Pastor Tommy Meade whom she loved like a son; seven grandchildren, twenty one great grandchildren and a great great granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday July 24 at 2:00 pm at the Richardson Chapel Primitive Baptist Church with Dr. Charles Price, Rev. Tommy Meade, and Rev. Chuck Price officiating. Burial will follow in the Burgess Cemetery.

Friends may visit the family on Saturday July 23 from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm and anytime after 8:00 am on Sunday at the Richardson Chapel Primitive Baptist Church.

Joshua Ferguson

1990 -- 2016

Joshua Ferguson, 26, of Blaine, KY passed away Saturday July 16, 2016 following a tragic accident.

Josh was born June 30, 1990 at Huntington, WV the son of David and Tina Vititoe Ferguson. He was a mechanic at Louisa Car Care.

Survivors include his parents David and Tina Ferguson of Blaine, KY; a son Joshua David Michael Ferguson also of Blaine, KY; a sister Savanna Kitchen of Louisa; his girlfriend Michelle Browning of Blaine; Paternal Grandmother Carolyn Franklin of Boones Camp, KY; Maternal Grandmother Mary Lou McKinney of Proctorville, Ohio; Several Uncles and Aunts; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday July 19 at 11:00 am at the Cains Creek FWB Church with Rev. Virgil Ferguson, Rev. Jonathan King, and Rev. Rodney King officiating. Burial will follow in the Camett Cemetery at Flat Gap, KY.

Friends may visit the family on Monday July 18 anytime after 7:00 pm at the Cains Creek FWB Church.

Bertha Marie Davis

1941 -- 2016

Bertha Marie Davis, 75, of Ulysses, KY went to be with the Lord on Friday July 15, 2016 at the Community Hospice Care Center following a long illness.

Bertha was born March 13, 1941 at Ulysses, KY, a daughter of the late Liss and Zelphia Lyons Bryant. She was a retired accountant at Foothills Rural Telephone Company for 32 years, and a member of the Walnut Grove FWB Church. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by brothers Harkless O’Bryant, James Harvey Bryant, Verlin Bryant, Roy Bryant, Ray Bryant, Liss Bryant Jr., and Larry Bryant and sisters Mae Bryant Castle, Lexie Bryant Bush, and Lucille Bryant Bevins.

Survivors include her loving husband Willis Davis, a loving sister Dottie Bryant Adams of Ulysses, KY, two brothers Curtis Bryant of Pataskala, Ohio and Earl Bryant of Columbus, Ohio, six sister in laws Janet Bryant of Bloomville, Ohio, Carol Bryant of Pinckney, Michigan, Loretta Bryant of Somerset, Ohio, Linda Kinser of Pataskala, Ohio, Patsy Black of Whitehall, Ohio and Betty Crana of Naples, Florida; a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews; caretakers Alice VanHoose and Pearl Horn.

Funeral services will be held on Monday July 18 at 1:00 pm at the Walnut Grove FWB Church with Rev. Jim Bevins and Rev. Jimmy Vanhoose officiating. Burial will follow in the Bryant Cemetery at Ulysses, KY.

 Ervin Marcum 

1938 -- 2016

Ervin Marcum 78 of Fort Gay, WV went to be with the Lord on July 16, 2016 at Cabell Huntington Hospital.

He was born March 4, 1938 at Stonecoal, WV. He was a retired welder and also served in the United States Army. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 43 years Betty Mae (Justice) Marcum; his parents Ransom and Bessie Marcum, four brothers Roland Clifford, Bill, and Ernest Marcum; four sisters Nannie Marcum, Virginia Grogg, Verna Meade, and Sally Marcum.

He is survived by a sister Regena (Paul) Johnson of Ohio, and two brothers Robert “Bob” Marcum of Ohio, and Donnie Ray (Mavis) Marcum of Kermit, WV and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday July 19, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Wilson Funeral Home with Bro. Jess Allen officiating. Burial will follow in the White Chapel Memorial Gardens at Barboursville, WV with military graveside rites.

Friends may visit the family on Monday July 18, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Wilson Funeral Home.

Fred W. Jackson

1947 – 2016

Fred Walter Jackson, 68 of Fort Gay, West Virginia passed away at home on Wednesday, July 13, 2016.

He was born in Fort Gay on October 2, 1947 to Garland and Julia Robertson-Jackson.  He was a self-employed carpenter as well as having retired from the railroad. Fred also attended the Oak Grove Church in Fort Gay.

He was preceded in death by one daughter Judy Dean.

Left behind is a loving family including his wife Beatrice Caudill-Jackson of Fort Gay, WV; one daughter Susie Warrix, of Frostproof, FL; two sons Bill and Teresa Morehead of Louisa and Fred and Oatha Jackson of Fort Gay, WV; six sisters Dorothy Wheeler of Asheville, Ohio, Wanda Blankenship of Fort Gay, WV, Kathy Robertson of Louisa, Fannie Russell and Betty Jackson both of Wayne and Connie Climer of Asheville, Ohio; 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Funeral services held on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Oak Grove Church on Paddle Creek with Pastor Mack Ray Cyrus officiating, burial will follow at the Jackson Cemetery in Fort Gay.

Visitation for family and friends will be at the church on Friday, July 15, 2016 from 6-9 pm.

Jamie Wondolowski

1974 - 2016

Jamie Wondolowski, 41, of Louisa, KY was called home July 11, 2016. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Flora Wondolowski-Burchett and Ronald Wondolowski and one brother Ronald David Wondolowski.

She is survived by her loving husband of 24 years, James Smith of Louisa, KY, four daughters; Jimia Wondolowski, Janessa, Jalessa, and Jacelyn Smith all of Louisa, KY, two granddaughters, Mackenzie and Reese also of Louisa, KY, and a very special step daughter Jameisha Smith of Cincinatti, OH.  Jamie also leaves behind sister Patricia and brother Joe and Roberta Wondolowski of Louisa.  Brother John Burchett and sister Becky Burchett-Osborne of Morgan’s Creek, four nephews, two nieces, aunt Sharon Adkins, lifelong friend Deanna Randall, and godson Eli Randall, several loving cousins and many, many friends who loved her.  She also leaves behind her very close-knit work family whom she loved and cared for immensely.  

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, July 15, 2016 at 1, with Rev. Larry Sparks officiating, with visitation one hour prior to service.  Jamie will then be laid to rest in the Sparks Family Cemetery. 

Her viewing will be held Thursday, July 14, 2016 from 5-9 for family, 6-9 for the public at Wilson Funeral Home.

Helen Damron

1930 – 2016

Damron Helen copyDamron Helen copyHelen Short-Damron, 86 of Louisa passed away on Friday, July 8, 2016 at the Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, MO.

She was born in Louisa, Kentucky on January 21, 1930 to the late Ray and Eva Thompson-Short. Helen was a beautician for 65 years and owned Helen’s Beauty Salon in Louisa for many years. She was a member of the Church of Christ and attended the Louisa First Baptist Church.

Besides her parents Mrs. Damron was preceded in death in by her husband Harry Damron, one daughter Suzi Damron and one son Harry Wright Damron, II.

She leaves behind a loving family including a daughter Patricia Damron and her husband Doug Wyatt ; two grandsons Trenton Wright Damron and Michael Caleb Farley; one great grandson Bronson Wright Damron; three brothers Carl Short, Bill Short and his wife Brenda and Kermit “Lum” Gene Short; one sister Laura Jane Fyffe (Charles); a daughter-in-law Rita Damron-Yates as well as many extended family members and friends all of whom will cherish her memory.

Funeral Services will be held at the Young Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at 11:00 am with Pastor Chuck Price and Dr. Norman Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at the Short Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Young Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 from 5-9 pm.

Tennis "Tim" Wallace

1967 -- 2016

Tennis "Tim" Wallace, age 48, of Fort Gay, WV passed away Friday, July 8, 2016 at his home.

Mr. Wallace was born July 29, 1967 in Cabell Co., WV to the late Boyd Newman and Virgie Lee (Watts) Wallace.

He leaves behind his wife of 18 years Diane (Robertson) Wallace, two daughters; Tina Jervis of Fort Gay, WV and Amanda Thompson of Crum, WV and two sons: Tennis Newman Wallace and Richard Bo Wallace both of Fort Gay, WV, two granddaughters; Danielle Amanda Jervis and Alexis Diane Jervis, two sisters; Betty Reed and Christine Thornhill both of Fort Gay, WV, and two special nieces; Priscilla and Rosa. He was a disabled sawmill worker.

The funeral service will be held on Monday at 2:00 at Wilson Funeral Home with Revs. Herman Dingess and Noah Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in Spruce Creek Cemetery.

Pauline N Hayes

1943 - 2016

Pauline N Hayes, age 73, of Louisa entered into rest Friday, July 8, 2016 at Community Hospice Care Center of Ashland, KY.

Mrs.Hayes was born March 25, 1943 in Norris, KY. to the late Harrison and Myrta (Colvin) Moore. She was preceded in death by three sisters; Zora Anders, Ethel Pack, Edith Thompson, and a Great Grandson, Ryan Chad Hayes, II.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Lowell Gene Hayes, two sons: Lowell Gene Hayes, JR. of Louisa, KY, and Scott Hayes of Winchester, KY; three sisters: Ellen Marie Pack, Pearlene Moore, and Ann Ward, two grandchildren, Ryan Hayes of Louisa, KY, and Emily Hayes of Irvine, KY; three Great Grandchildren, Allena, Brayden, and Cloey Hayes.

She was a retired employee of American Standard. Mrs. Hayes was also a member of Charley FWB Church and Lowmansville Chapter 497 Order of Eastern Star.

The funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 on Sunday, July 10 at Wilson Funeral Home, with Revs. Todd Webb/ Willie Gene Hayes officiating. Burial will follow in Yatesville Memorial Gardens, Louisa, KY.

Irene Meek Mollett

Irene Meek Mollett, 88, of Louisa, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at her home.

Irene was born December 12, 1927 in Tomahawk, Kentucky a daughter of the late Shadie B. and Ethel Swain Meek. She was a homemaker and loved to quilt and do needle point. Irene was a member of Friendship Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Mollett; daughter, Emma Jean Preston; son, Freddie Allen Mollett; brother, Eugene Meek; and sisters, Mary Yvonne Meek and Glory Swanson Mollett.

Survivors include, two daughters, Burnice Jarrell of Louisa, Kentucky; Josie (Glen) McIntosh of Springfield, Ohio; sons, Lewis E. Mottett of Louisa, Kentucky; Larry (Ceclia) Mollett of Summerfield, Florida; Alex (Carol) Mollett of Columbus, Ohio; James A. (Judy) Mollett of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky; Joe (Robin) Mollett of Springfield, Ohio; John Mollett of Springfield, Ohio; James A. Mollett of Louisa, Kentucky and Samuel L. Mollett also of Louisa, Kentucky; brother, Roger Dean Meek of Greenville, South Carolina; sisters, Peggy Joyce Osborne of Paintsville, Kentucky; Mandy Sue (Walter) Dutton of Tomahawk, Kentucky; Carrie (David) Loudin of Anderson, South Carolina; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Phyllis Carol West

1937 -- 2016 

Phyllis Carol West, aged 79, entered peacefully into her heavenly home on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Community Hospice Care Center, after having a hemorrhagic stroke on Tuesday, June 21, 2016. Phyllis was born February 1, 1937, in Blaine, Kentucky, a daughter of Evelyn Moore Cordle of Louisa, KY and the late Winfred B. Cordle.

She was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Wanda Lee Hay (Ernest) of Canal Winchester, Ohio and her beloved brother, Bobby E. Cordle (Dianne C. Boggs) of Louisa, Kentucky.

She is survived by her husband and friend, Gene West of 45 years; four daughters; Anita Hay Caudill (Daniel), Dretha Hay Bienert (Frank), Donna Jean West, and Kimberly Faye West Muncy (David) all of Louisa, KY; three sisters; Lola Mollette (Earl), of Blaine, KY; Geneva Isaac (Bobby), and Virginia Way both of Louisa, KY; three brothers; James Allen Cordle (Nancy), of Blaine, KY, Lawrence Cordle (Debbie), of Louisa, KY, and Millard Cordle (Trudy), of Grayson, KY. She has seven grandchildren: Marc Edward Hay (Sacha), David Ray Hay, William Brian Hay, Michelle Dawn Hay, Brittany Carol Adams (Zach), Bethany Faye Muncy, and Reid David Gene Muncy. She also has 10 great-grandchildren: Faith Eileen Hay, Riley Edward Wayne Hay, Myra Carnes, Macy Jean Hay, Franki Michelle Bernotas, Carson Brian Marcus Hay, Gemma Faith Bernotas, Alexis Rose Hay, Elliana Grace Adams, and Weston Michael Adams, soon to arrive.

Phyllis was a hard working lady all of her life and took great pride in everything she did. Phyllis loved her four daughters, her seven grandchildren, and her 10 great–grandchildren immensely. She was an excellent caregiver to her friends and family. Phyllis was an amazing cook, seamstress, and a master hand quilter. She loved to shop for clothes, yard sales, and appreciated anything handmade. She loved gardening and canning, and listening to the gospel and country music of Elvis Presley. Phyllis enjoyed getting her hair fixed every Thursday at Barb’s Beauty Haven and the many friendships she made along the way. She loved pictures and above all she dearly loved the people in them. She was the matriarch of the family and will be truly missed by her family and friends.

She was a retired custodian at People’s Security Bank.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 5 at Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Stepp, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Yatesville Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Louisa, KY.

Pauline M. Dobyns

1030 - 2016

Pauline M. Dobyns, age 86 of Fairborn, passed away Thursday June 30, 2016.  

She was born January 24, 1930 in McDowell, Kentucky the daughter of the late John and Flossie (Martin) Moore.  She was a 1959 graduate of Eastern Kentucky State University. Pauline was a teacher with the Fairborn City School, retiring after 31 years of service.  She was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church, Fairborn Lions Club, O.E.S Aero Chapter No 536, Greene Co. Retired Teachers, Ohio Retired Teachers Association, and the Fairborn Senior Center.  In addition to her parents she was preceded  in death by three sisters and two brothers.  

Pauline is survived by her loving husband, Wendell; and sister Nesba Sumner.  A funeral service will be held on Wednesday July 6, 2016 at 12 Noon in the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, Rev. Karen Cassedy officiating.  

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until the time of service.  Burial will be on Thursday at 11:00 AM in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Louisa, Kentucky.

 In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fairborn Lions Club Pilot Dog Program –or- First Presbyterian Church, Fairborn –or- Hospice of the Miami Valley.

Julia "Josephine" Miller Preece

1930 - 2016

Julia "Josephine" Miller Preece , 85, of Louisa, KY, went to be with the Lord on June 28, 2016, in Ashland, KY.

She was born November 3, 1930 in Louisa, KY., a daughter of Albert C. Miller and Della Rae Childers Miller. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jefferson Preece of 67 years. She was also preceded in death by brothers John, Bascom, Ishmael, Albert, and Freddie Ray Miller; sisters Emogene Felix, Pauline Cook, and Geneva Fitzpatrick. 

Mrs. Josephine Preece is survived by a son Jeffrey Michael Preece, wife Pamela, and a daughter Janet Sue Kelley, husband Jim. Grandchildren: Liz Anne Parsons, Allen Priode, Kimberly Alger, Leslie Preece, Tiffany Mosely, Tyson Preece, and Chet Pelphrey. Great-Grandchildren: Samantha Endicott, Samuel Riddle, Shelby Alger, Michael Meade, Hannah Chaffin, Landon Fairchild, Wyatt Preece, and Easton Preece. Great-Great- Grandchildren: Kendyl Webb and Ryder Endicott. 

Mrs. Josephine Preece was a homemaker. She was devoted to her family. She enjoyed raising gardens, working in her flowers, especially her roses, canning, and traveling. She was of the Baptist faith.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, July 1,  at 2pm at Wilson Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Goble officiating.  Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.

Delores Jean Mullett Yoder

1939 - 2016

 Delores Jean Mullett Yoder, 77 of Englewood, TN passed away Friday June 24, 2016 at her home.

A native of Fort Gay, WV she lived many years in Daleville, IN and the last 15 years in Englewood, TN. She was a daughter of the late John Mullett and Gladys Cyrus Earl and was also preceded in death by a sister Marie Newkirk and nephew Michael Newkirk.

Survivors include two daughters, Starria Robertson (husband Robert Gaghins) of Oologah, OK and Deida Chambers (husband Mike) of Daleville, IN; a son Daniel Yoder of Englewood, TN; a brother Lee Earl of Indiana; 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; nephew Kevin Newkirk of Muncie, IN and niece Lesa Reading of Indianapolis, IN.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Tuesday June 28 at Saltpetre Community Church in Saltpetre, WV with Pastor Richard Maynard officiating. Burial will be in Lynch Cemetery at Saltpetre, WV.

Earl Verner Young

1935 – 2016

Earl Verner Young, 81 of Webbville, Kentucky passed away Friday, June 24, 2016 at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.

He was born in Webbville on January 19, 1935 to the late Watt and Susan Moore-Young. Mr. Young was a member of the Maranatha Bible Church, a 47 year member of the Jake Rice 606 Masonic Lodge where he was twice Past Master, Blaine Chapter 202 O.E.S. El Hasa Shrine Temple, The Big Sandy Shrine Club, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason Valley of Covington and a Kentucky Admiral. Although he worked many jobs, he was first and always a farmer.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Edna Wheeler, a daughter in law Debra Young and a special niece Sandra Floyd.

Earl is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years Helen Fay Griffith-Young; two sons Donald Ray and Janet Young and Mitchell Earl Young; one daughter Debra Lynn and James Hylton; seven grandchildren Melissa (Steve) Edens, Kelly (Mike) Adkins, Michael Earl (Robyn) Young, Clinton (Kelly) Young, Jesse Lee (Amy) Hylton, Taylor Clay (Sarah) Hylton and Katelin Faye Hylton; eleven great grandchildren Liam, Kaolin, Harley and Adler Edens, Mason and Parker Young, Grace, Anna and Griffin Hylton and Kyra and Josiah Hylton; one brother Larry (Diana) Young as well as many friends and extended family members all of whom will miss him dearly.

Funeral Services will be held at the Young Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at 11:00 am with Jesse Fyffe and Jesse Hylton officiating, burial will follow at the Young Family Cemetery in Webbville.

Ann Frazier

1949 - 2016

Ann Frazier, age 67, of Louisa, KY entered into rest Thursday, June 23, 2016 at Three Rivers Medical Center. 

Mrs. Frazier was born February 11, 1949 in Pike County KY to the late James and Mary (Varney) Hall. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Arthur Frazier in 1991.  

She is survived by one daughter, Janie Daniels and husband Darrin of Louisa, KY, two sons; Tom Frazier and wife Heather of Louisa, KY and Mike Frazier and wife Stacy of Louisa, KY, two sisters; Alma Hall of Villa Rica, GA and Rita Sibley of Louisa, KY. She also has seven grandchildren: Hanna Louise Daniels, Makenzie Rayne Frazier, Montana Lynn Frazier, Annabelle Rose Frazier, Macy Marie Frazier, James Mitchell Frazier; and Grayson Alexander Daniels.

She was a retired manager at the Louisa Burger King and a member of Louisa Church of God 

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm Monday, June 27 at Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Stepp officiating.  Burial will follow in the Frazier Cemetery, Louisa, KY.

1972 – 2016

Clinton Travis Mills, 43 of Monroe, Michigan went to be with his Lord on June 17, 2016.

He is survived by his loving wife Beverly Mills and three daughters Kaylee, Kelsey and Kensley Mills.

Clinton will be forever remembered for his dedication to his faith, family and friends, love for building custom guitars and an infectious laugh that could bring a smile on the worst day.

As per Clinton’s request he was cremated and his ashes were spread in a place close to his heart and there will be no services at this time.

Jerry Walker Ratliff

1944 - 2016

Jerry Walker Ratliff, age 72, of Louisa passed away Friday, June 24, 2016 at his home.  

Mr. Ratliff was born February 9, 1944 in Glo, KY. to the late Walker and Virgie Ratliff.    

He is survived by his wife, Deborah (Gibson) Ratliff and two daughters; Angela McCoy of Lexington, KY and Regina Prater of Louisa, KY, two sisters; Viola Music and Verla Gibson. He also has seven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. He was a truck driver.  

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Monday, June 27 at Meades Branch FWB Church, Louisa, KY with Rev. Jimmy Bevins  officiating. 

Care has been entrusted to Wilson Funeral Home.

Fred Wendell Parsons

1933 - 2016

Fed Parsons obit picFed Parsons obit picFred Wendell Parsons, age 83, of Fort Gay, WV entered into rest Thursday, June 23, 2016 at his home in Fort Gay. 

Mr. Parsons was born April 11, 1933 in Fort Gay, WV to the late Fred and Willie Belle (Moore) Parsons.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Doris Parsons-Kits, and son in Law John R Tucker.

He is survived by his wife: Kathryn (Kitts) Parsons, four daughters; Frankie Lynn Parsons-Tucker of Ashland, KY, Teresa Sue Parsons-Brown and husband Rick of Bremen, IN, Mary Belle Parsons-Thompson and husband David of Fort Gay, WV, Netta Parsons-Webb and husband Ronnie of Louisa, KY; two sons: Fred Wendell Parsons, Jr. and wife Sherry of Prichard, WV, Greg Parsons and wife Connie of Cattletsburg, KY, ten grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren; a special niece, Kathy Lou Kitts of Fort Gay, WV, and a special friend, Herman Crabtree.

He served in both the Army and the Navy during the Korean War, was a retired machinist from CSX Railroad, and a member of Rush Branch Baptist Church

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm, Sunday, June 26 at Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Travis Perry officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Louisa, KY. 

Friends may call from 12:00pm until time of services at the funeral home.

Susan M. Wilson

1953 - 2016

Susan M. Wilson, 63, of Louisa, KY passed away Tuesday June 21, 2016 at the Jewish Hospital in Louisville, KY following a brief illness.

Susan was born Jan. 20, 1953 at Charleston, WV the daughter of the late Weldon and Helen Coleman Mason. She was a secretary for Dan Howard CPA.

Survivors include her loving husband Neil Wilson also of Louisa, a sister Barbara Bennett of Ansted, WV; three brothers Mike Mason of Chattanooga, Paul Mason and Charles Mason both of Ansted, WV; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday June 25 at 1:00 pm at the Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Chuck Price officiating.

Friends may visit the family on Saturday from 11:00 am and until time of services at the Wilson Funeral Home.

Willis Wray Shannon

1938 – 2016

Willis “Hap” Wray Shannon, 77 of Louisa passed away at home on Sunday, June 19, 2016.

He was born October 23, 1938 in Lawrence County to the late Riley J. and Gladys Childers-Shannon. Mr. Shannon was a member of the Louisa Freewill Baptist Church and he was a member of the Louisa Masonic Lodge. “Hap” was a Kentucky Colonel and was retired as an Operations Supervisor from the AEP Big Sandy Plant after nearly 30 years.

Besides his parents he was also preceded in death in 2007 by his wife Carol Brown-Shannon.

Left behind to cherish his memory is a loving family including two daughters Karen and Brian Coleman of Rush, Kentucky and Glenda and Tony Cole of Winchester, Kentucky; four grandchildren Christopher Dean Coleman, Shannon Elizabeth Coleman, Caleb Wray Cole and Alexandra Lang Cole; one brother Bill Don Shannon and one sister Laura Lou Shannon both of Lawrence County; one nephew James Shannon of Louisa as well as a host of extended family members and friends all of whom will miss him dearly.

Funeral services will be held at Young Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at 1:00 pm with Bobby Workman and James Russell Schmidt officiating. Burial will follow at the Shannon Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 from 6-9 pm at Young Funeral Home with a Masonic Service at 7pm.

Jack W. Foster 

1917 - 2016 

Jack W. Foster 99, of Fort Gay, WV passed away Sunday, June 19, 2016 at his home.

He was born January 4, 1917 in Ashland, Kentucky a son of the late Malinda McGlone and Thomas Jones Foster. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sisters, Edith Ratliff, Ruth Bartram, Alice Crabtree.; brothers, Ralph Foster and Carl "Pete" Foster.

Jack is survived by sisters, Kathryn Luman of Louisa, Ky.; Sally Miller of Johnstown, PA.; Violet "Bo" Nance (Joe) of Titusville, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews and life long friend Gene "Ooger" Workman.

Special thanks to his caregivers, Thursie Wellman ( his niece) who cared for him 14 years and special thanks to Jerry Jordan, Mary Caudill, Carla Preston, Guy Preston, Libby Frasher whom gave him care and devotion.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Thursday, June 23, 2016 at Young Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Billups Gap Cemetery, Fort Gay, WV..

Visitation will be 6:00 until 9:00 PM Wednesday June 22nd  at Young Funeral Home.

Frances Athington

1938 - 2016

Frances Athington 78 of Edmond, OK formerly of Lawrence County passed away Friday June 17, 2016 in Morrisville, NC following a brief illness.

Frances was born Feb. 9, 1938 in Lawrence County, the daughter of the late Harkles and Anna Mae Kirk Athington. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a grandson Austin Golafshan, and two sisters Ethel Borders and Dorothy Scott.  She was a retired Physcology Director and member of the Westport Road Church of Christ.

Survivors include four sons Robert A. Burns, David R. Burns and wife Lana, Ted A. Burns, and Greg P. Burns and wife Mindi; two daughters Debra Golafshan and husband Shahrokh and Elizabeth Anne Hill, two sisters Gladys McDaniel and  JoAnn  VanHoose; 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday June 19th at 3:00 pm at the Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Wilson officiating.  Burial will follow in the Athington Cemetery at Lowmansville, KY.

Friends may visit the family on Sunday from 1:00 pm to time of services at the Wilson Funeral Home.

Faye D. Nelson

1944 – 2016

Faye D. Nelson, 72 of Ulysses, Kentucky passed away at home on Wednesday, June 15, 2016.

She was born in Lawrence County on April 13, 1944 to the late Raymond and Mary Dixon. Faye was a homemaker and member of the Chestnut Grove Enterprise Baptist Church.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by two sons Bruce Preston and Bill Preston as well as three siblings.

Ms. Nelson leaves behind two sons Robert Preston and his wife Brenda of Louisa and Brian Preston and his wife Ramona of Ulysses; three grandchildren and one great grandchild as well as many extended family members and friends all of whom will miss her dearly.

Funeral Services will be held at Young Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Jim Bevins officiating. Burial will follow at the Preston Cemetery at Ulysses.

Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday, June 17, 2016 from 5-9 pm.

Geneva J. Buskirk

1933 - 2016

Geneva J. Buskirk 82 of Louisa, KY went to be with the Lord on Tuesday June 7, 2016 following a long illness.

Geneva was born July 5, 1933 at Inez, KY the daughter of the late Amos and Francis James. She was a retired Martin County Head Start Teacher’s Aid and member of the Faith Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Thomas Ray Buskirk who died in 1999.

Survivors include two daughters Lisa Maynard of Elyria, Ohio and Amy Childers and husband Joey of Louisa, KY; a son Tucker Buskirk of Worthington, KY; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Saturday June 11 at 11:00 am at the Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Wright officiating. Burial followed in the Buskirk Cemetery in Inez, KY.
