Jeffrey A. Doss 45, of Fort Gay, W.V. passed away Monday, March 24, 2014, he was born July 3,1968 in Louisa, Ky. a son of the late Kenneth and Naida Harlow Doss. He was a construction worker.
Survivors include his children, Amber Doss of Fort Gay, W.V.; Marissa Doss of Prichard, W.V.; Breanna Chaney of Fort Gay, W.V.; Nathan Doss, Devin Doss and Lindsay Doss all of Kenova, W.V.; four sisters, Debra Plummer of Fort Gay, W.V.; Diane Hinzeman of Ravenswood, W.V.; Teresa Blunt of Fort Gay, W.V.; Christine Childers of Louisa, Ky.; two brothers, Jimmy Doss of Fort Gay, W.V.; David Doss of Fort Gay,W.V.; five grandchildren; Lisa Watts for whom he made his home with.

Gary Curtis Artrip Jr.
1967 - 2014
Gary Curtis Artrip Jr. 46 of Mansfield, Ohio passed away Monday March 24, 2014 at Riverside Methodist Hospital Columbus, Ohio. Gary was born Oct. 22, 1967 in Springfield, Ohio, the son of Gary C. Artrip Sr. and Brenda J. (Thompson) Johnson. He was a welder and loved NASCAR and enjoyed following the Cleveland Browns.
He is survived by his mother Brenda J. (Thompson) Johnson of Millersburg, OH; his father Gary C. (Rita) Artrip Sr. of South Point , OH; a son Gary Allen Fisher; a granddaughter Aubree Lynn Fisher of Lexington, OH; three sisters Sandra (Claude) Jervis, Carissa (John) Fowler both of Mansfield, OH and Carrie (Jay) Rowsey of South Point, OH; two brothers Charles E. (Donna) Artrip of Mansfield, OH and Curtis (Megan) Artrip of Wheelersburg, OH; three step siblings, Rhonda Salmons of Crum, WV, Ray Hunt of Fort Gay, WV, and Chris Hunt of Huntington, WV; four nephews and three nieces, and his grandmother Hildred Artrip of Fort Gay, WV.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday March 28th at 1:00 pm at the Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Noah Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in the Wellman Cemetery at Fort Gay, WV.

Pearl Ratcliffe 89, of Glenhayes, WV went home to be with The Lord on March 24, 2014. He was a retired signal maintainer for the Norfolk & Southern Railroad, an avid fisherman and farmer. He was a member of the Big Hurricane Missionary Baptist Church. Pearl was preceded in death by a son, Jeffery Earl, two brothers, Roy and Bill Ratcliffe and a sister, Jewel Maynard.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Opal (Judy) Ratcliffe, sons, John (Hope) Ratcliffe of Kenova, WV, Mike (Susan) Ratcliffe of Fort Gay, WV, Randy (Claudia) Ratcliffe of Fort Gay, WV, and Paul (Terry) Ratcliffe of Prichard, WV and one daughter Jeanette Ratcliffe of Prichard, WV and seven grandchildren, Heather Ferguson, Summer Ratcliffe, Rhonda Ratcliffe, Christy Pratt, Michael Ratcliffe, Justin Ratcliffe, Laura Campbell, and Jordan Ratcliffe and sixteen great grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Anna Lou Maynard. Pearl was Blessed with many friends and wonderful neighbors.

Maxine Smith went home Sunday afternoon March 24 at the home of her sister, Gladys Dean where she resided for the last two years. She was born February 22, 1924, the daughter of the late Albert and Nona Bartram McCloud. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur L. Smith and brother Kenneth McCloud.
Survivors include her sister, Gladys Dean and brother Kelsie A. McCloud both of Fort Gay, W.V. a host of nieces and nephews and friends. She worked at Wright Patterson Air Force Base retiring after 36 years of service.
Graveside service will be conducted 1:00 pm Thursday, March 27, 2014 at Dayton Memorial Park, Dayton, Ohio.
Visitation will be 6:00 til 8:00 pm Wednesday at Young Funeral Home, Louisa, Ky.

Dorothy Copley, 81, of Fort Gay, WV entered the gates of her Heavenly home on Friday, March 21, 2014.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband; Birdie Copley, parents; Jay and Maggie Waller Williamson, daughter and son-in-law; Maggie and Arvel Endicott, two sisters; Goldie Walker and Oretha Marcum, three brothers; Lacy, Jennings and Wayne Williamson.

Dorothy was a member of the Saltpetre Christian Baptist Church and owner/operator of Copley's Truck Stop for many years. Dorothy will be missed very badly by her children, grandchildren and other family members.

Harmon M. Griffith, 83, of Blaine, KY passed away Wednesday March 19, 2014 at his home. Harm was born April 29, 1930 at Cordell, KY, the son of the late Charles James and Nannie Mae Cordle Griffith. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a son Forest Allen Griffith, daughter Dixie Mae Stambaugh, and granddaughter Jessica Nicole Stambaugh. He was a retired farmer and timberman.
Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years Jessie Barker Griffith, daughter Mollie Hackney of Sitka, KY; three sons and daughters-in-law Charles E. and Kay Griffith of Blaine, KY, Randall Lee and Cindy Griffith of Grayson, KY, and William Dexter and Nancy Griffith of Webbville, KY; 17 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren.

Agnes Hardwick, age 82, of Cardington, OH. and formerly of Ft. Gay, W. VA. went to be with the Lord Saturday afternoon March 15, 2014 in the Morrow Manor Nursing Center. She was born July 14, 1931 in Ft. Gay, W. VA. to the late Lindsey W. and Minnie E. (Adkins ) Spears.
Agnes was a graduate of Fort Gay High School. She went on to get her Bachelor and Master’s degree in Education from Marshall University and Central Michigan University. She taught elementary education in the Wayne County school system and retired after more than 30 years of service.
Agnes was an active member of the Bartram Chapel Church where she was involved in various areas of ministry. Her favorite was still the children she got to teach in Sunday school. As her health began to fail she moved to Ohio to be close to her family where she lived until her death.
Agnes was married to George Hardwick who preceded her in death in 1997.
Agnes is survived by a sister, Wanda Spears Robertson of Ft. Gay, two sons; Greg (Dean) Hardwick and Carl (Ava) Hardwick both of Cardington; four grandchildren; Carl Jr (Karley) Hardwick of Ashley, Scott (Darla) Hardwick of Cardington, Hope (Chris) Walters of Mt. Gilead, and Christopher (Mandy) Hardwick of Delaware; seven great-grandchildren: Elizabeth, Abigail, Charity, Jamisen, Cooper, Bentley and Hayze.
In addition to her parents and husband Agnes was preceded in death by a sister, Roberta Spears Jackson and two brothers: Charles Spears and Ralph Spears.

Pauline Bartrum Dillon
1922 - 2014
Pauline Bartrum Dillon, 92, of Prichard, W.V. peacefully entered into rest March 16, 2014. She was born January 31, 1922 to the late Ernie & Minnie Bartrum. She was preceded in death by her husband of thirty four years, Chriss Dillon, five daughters, Nina Armbasick, Barbara Sansom, Mary Price, Freda Blevins, & Ruby Vinson, two sons, Fred Dillon & Roy Dillon, two brothers, Clarence Bartrum & Leonard Bartrum, and one sister, Myrtle Hatfield.
She is survived by three sons, Chriss (Belva) Dillon Jr., Charles (Patti) Dillon, & Gary (Ruth) Dillon, six daughters, Yvonne (Pat) Luther, Liz (Elmer) Dillon, June Bowen, Dixie (Billy Ray) Marcum, Regenia (Tom) Stamper, & Shirlene (Tom) Hardwick, and one special, adopted sister Beulah Hardwick. She is also survived by thirty nine grandchildren, one hundred thirty great and great-great grandchildren, and a host of other family and special friends.
Pauline was a hardworking, fun-loving devout Christian who enjoyed every stated opportunity to tell people of her true love, God. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening, and having fun at any time possible. She truly touched the lives of everyone that she acquainted herself with. Her family and friends will truly miss her, but know that they can be re-united with her if only they rely on the ONE that she truly loved!

Alfretta Baugh, 80, of Hamilton, Indiana passed away Thursday March 13, 2014 at Laurels of DeKalb Nursing Home Butler, IN.
She was born April 25, 1933 in Zelda, KY to the late Bernard and Jane (Woods) Pickens. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Warren Baugh who passed away Sept. 15, 1998,also by three brothers Joseph, Charles, and David Pickens.
Alfretta was a homemaker and member of Independent Full Gospel Church.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday March 18th at 1:00 pm at the Buchanan Chapel Church at Zelda, KY. Burial will follow in the Buchanan Chapel Cemetery.

She was a retired nurses aid for the Louisa General Hospital, and was a member of Louisa Church of God. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Amos See; son, J. Charles Jack Maynard
1921 - 2014
Charles Jack Maynard, born March 15, 1921, died March 9, 2014. He was the son of the late Frank and Riva Wallace Maynard. He was the husband of Anna L. Maynard for 68 years. Jack was predeceased by six brothers and two sisters. He served 30 months in Hawaii during WWII repairing battleships. In later years he was a superviser for several construction companies. He was a Mason of Fort Gay, W.V. and he was an avid fox hunter. He was a devout Christian. He was saved in 1979, joined the Glenhayes Baptist Church which he loved very much. He leaves behind many dear friends and loved-ones who will miss him very much.
Jack is survived by nephews as whom he raised as sons, Terry Maynard of Titusville, Fla.; Dannie Maynard of Glenhayes, W.V.; Charles Jack II of Brownstown, MI.; brother, Dan Maynard of Wheelersburg, Ohio; sister, Betty Goodacre of Romulus, MI.; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was a retired welder for ACF Industries and was a member of Fort Gay Freewill Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Lutie Cook York.

Born at Fort Gay, West Virginia on November 23, 1942, he passed from the world after a long illness. He was preceded in death by many beloved family members including: his father, Sherman Endicott, his mother, Magdalene Fluty Endicott, his brother, Charles Endicott, his sister, Juanita Endicott, as well as his niece, Dawn Endicott and nephew, Rick Endicott.
Earnest is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Maxine Holt Endicott; his sons, Earnest Ray Endicott, Jr. and Christopher Michael Endicott (Lori), and his step daughter, Angela R. Schmidt and brother, Jene (Nancy) Endicott. Also surviving Earnest are his 6 cherished
grandchildren, Joey Schmidt, Jaylon Endicott, Justine Endicott, Audbree Maxine, Emma Raya Endicott, and Ashlyn Chris Endicott. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Thomas Richard Osborne, 62, of Louisa, KY went to be with the Lord on Thursday March 6, 2014 at Cabell Huntington Hospital following a brief illness.
Tom was born Sept. 25, 1951 in Louisa, the son of the late Tommy Nelson and Claire Louise Nolan Osborne. He was a retired coal miner, United States Navy Veteran, and member of the Bear Creek Apostolic Church. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Carol Lynn Blackburn Osborne, and a sister.
Survivors include three sons Thomas Jr., Billy, and James all of Louisa, five brothers and five grandchildren.

Alice Ewers Queen, 86, of Louisa, KY. passed Saturday, March 1, 2014 at the Jordan Center Center in Louisa, KY. She was born December 26, 1927 at Charlottsville, VA. a daughter of the late Ossie and Minnie Dixon Ewers. She was a secretary for the Lawrence Co. Board of Education, member of the Louisa United Methodist Church, Methodist Women's Club and local bridge club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard "Sheepie" Queen and a grandson, James Brian Queen.
Surviving is two daughters; Grace Elaine and Jim Strickland of Jackson, TN., and Doris Rebecca and John Bertram of Cleveland, Ohio, one son; James H. and Jenny Queen II, of Louisa, KY., Grandchildren; Christopher and Michael Bertram, Jamie Johnson, Michael and Robert Strickland, and 5 Great Grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11am Monday at the Louisa United Methodist Church with Rev. Wayne Watts officiating.

Wyatt "Reggie" Whites, 66, of Louisa, Ky. passed away Monday, March 3, 2014 at Three Rivers Medical Center in Louisa, Ky. He was born August 12, 1947 in Louisa, Ky. a son of the late David B. and Anna Bess Peterson Whites. He was a Petroleum Technician for Reliable Oil, a member of Louisa United Methodist Church and he was a United States Vietnam Army Veteran. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, David B. Whites Jr. and by his first wife, Marsha Lynn Moore Whites.

She was born November 30, 1923 in Beaver Creek, Ky. a daughter of the late Ira and Nancy Lou Castle Hale. She was a Cafeteria Manager for Lawrence County Board of Education. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Louisa, a volunteer at Three Rivers Medical Center and a member of the Senior Circle of Three Rivers Medical Center.
Survivors include her loving husband, Elmer Wray Wilson of Louisa, Ky.; two sons, Marcus "Reta" Wilson of Louisa, Ky.; Timothy "Linda" Wilson also of Louisa, Ky.; one brother, Okie Hale of Ashland, Ky.; sister-in-law, Betty Lou Ball of Louisa, Ky.; 5 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren.

He was born August 12, 1954 in Louisa, Ky. a son of the late Oliver and Effie Marie Crabtree Mounts. He worked at the Fort Gay Police Department, Fort Gay City Council and he was a retired Coal Miner and was the Pastor of Bear Creek Apostolic Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by, sisters, Delenna Anderson, Joyce Darlene Keene, and Pearl Robertson; brother, Leroy Mounts.
Survivors include his loving wife Orpha Marie Mounts of Fort Gay, W.V.; children, Keith Edward Mounts, Jeffery Allen Mounts, Michelle Lynn Workman and Carl Edmond Mounts Jr.; sisters, Deanna Robertson of Fort Gay,; Carolyn Sue Triplett of Louisa, Ky.; Deloris Frazier of Fort Gay, W.V.; 6 grandchildren, Ashley Michelle Mounts, Jeffery Allen Mounts, Jeremey Allen Mounts all of Fort Gay, W.V.; Summer Dawn Shepard, Haley Allison Shepard, Alexis Nicole Mounts all of Louisa, Ky. Lucreasey Parsley Marcum
1930 - 2014
Lucreasey Parsley Marcum, age 83, died Monday, February 24, 2014 at St. Ann’s Hospital in Westerville, OH.
She was born July 18, 1930 in Crum, WV to the late Leo and Bertha (Spaulding) Parsley. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her sister, Laura Bell Marcum; brothers, James, Grover, and Elmer Parsley; and daughter-in-law, Linda Blaker Marcum.
Lucreasey is survived by her husband of 68 years, Alonzo Marcum; sons, Clyde and Sherman (Ann) Marcum; daughter, Barbara (Gary) Steele; grandchildren, Lisa (Brad) Gerwig, Justin (Lisa) Marcum, Sherman (Tiffanie) Marcum, Jennifer (Ed) Miller, Stacie (Aaron) Taylor, Ryan Steele, Emily (Travis) Cordes, and David (Jessica) Steele; 12 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Emma Lee (Bill) Chaffin, Gladys (Harold) Gillman, and Irene (Dallas) Robinson.
Lucreasey was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother whose life revolved around her family and friends. She also took great pleasure in singing, dancing, gardening, and garage sales. She will live in our hearts forever.

1942 - 2014
Linda L. Smith, 72, of Peach Orchard in Lawrence County went to be with the Lord on Saturday February 22, 2104 following a sudden illness.
Linda was born Jan. 11, 1942 at Pomroy, Ohio the daughter of the late Hollis and Letha Marie Little Clark. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Robert Smith who died in 2008. She was a homemaker and member of the Inez Church of God.
Survivors include three daughters Debra Marcum, Angela and husband Michael Preece, and Robin A. Smith all of Louisa, KY; a son Gregory Lee Smith also of Louisa; three sisters Mary, Martha, and Barb; and a brother Dana; 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday Feb. 25th at 1:00 pm at the Wilson Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Joe Bayes officiating. Burial will follow in the Smith Cemetery at Peach Orchard, KY.

Bessie Laney 87, of Louisa, the daughter of the late Dave and Nora Dove Fraley Fitch of Peach Orchard, born Feb. 18, 1926, passed from this world for her eternal home Monday Feb. 17th after a short illness at Three Rivers Medical Center.
Bessie is preceded by her husband Walter Milton Laney, three sons, David, Melvin, and Mikey, one daughter Janie, also three grandsons, Melvin Lloyd (Buddie) Preston, Walter Benjamin May, and Mathew Douglas May, and one granddaughter, Martha Jean Preston Wells. Bessie is survived by four daughters Junell May (Willard), Annie Dutton (Brad), Louella Stepp (James), Mickey Rose (William) all of Louisa, 19 Grandchildren, 26 Great Grandchildren, and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren and one brother Milton Fitch, also of Louisa; also many nephews and nieces, and a great host of her extended family that are hid with Christ in God, some on this side and others that await with her on the other side for us to gather forever in our Heavenly Home.
Bessie and Milton often sang as their part in the service of the Lord or testified of what the Lord had done for them, during which Bessie shouted for the victory to come, not for the battle or sickness but for the victory. So often when they sang the Church rejoiced in God our Saviour. Looking for that blessed hope that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday Feb. 21st at 1:00 pm at the Richardson Chapel Primitive Baptist Church with Bro. Brad Dutton and Bro. Tommy Meade officiating. Burial will follow in the Laney Cemetery at Richardson, KY.

Andrew Stewart Freese
1930 - 2014
Andrew Stewart Freese 83 of Louisa, KY passed away Sunday Feb. 16, 2014 at Three Rivers Medical Center following a brief illness.
Andy was born Dec. 2, 1930 in Louisa, the son of the late Fred and Lucille Stewart Freese. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a son Andrew Woods and a brother Louis Freese. Andy was a master mechanic.
Survivors include daughters Corinthia Hayes of Atlanta, GA, Mariea Dodd of Raleigh, NC, Tara Freese Almonte of Bronx, NY, Isabelle Mitchell of Central Islip, NY, Sharon Hargrove of Maplewood, NJ, Malissa Freese of Washington, DC and Alice Freese of Bronx, NY; a sister Alice Church of Atlanta, GA; 15 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday Feb. 20th at 2:00 pm at the Wilson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Pinehill Cemetery at Louisa. Friends may call from noon on Thursday until time of services at the Wilson Funeral Home.

Bobby Joe Thompson, 70, of Fort Gay, W.V. passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky.
He was born December 20, 1943 in Fort Gay, W.V. a son of William David Parsons and the late Goldie Jean Thompson Parsons. He was an Electronics Technician. In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by his wife, Racine Curry Thompson; two sons, Robert Joseph King and Andrew Mitchell Thompson.
Survivors include, father, William David Parsons of Fort Gay, W.V.; two sons, Gregory Joseph Thompson of Fort Gay, W.V.; William Jason Thompson of Newport Richey, Fla.; one daughter, Wanda Jean Cochrane of West Palm Beach, Fla.; brother, David Parsons of Kenova, W.V.; sister, Loretta Kitts of Fort Gay, W.V.; 9 Grandchildren.
Graveside service will be conducted 1:00 PM Sunday February 16, 2014 at Parsons Cemetery, Fort Gay, W.V.
