Louisa, KY. -- Workers at the Father Beiting Appalachian Mission Center smelled smoke today, Monday, Feb. 24, but couldn't tell where it was coming from.  When they opened the back door of the building, they saw fire burning in the grass on the hillside, and could hear the power transformer on the electric pole.

Apparently, the transformer blew a fuse, and set off a spark which ignited the tall grass behind the building.

The Louisa Fire Dept. was called, and quickly arrived on the scene, where the firefighters put out the fire, containing the blaze just before it started down the hill toward the Food City plaza.

AEP arrived to assess the situation, and the power was off at the FBAMC building for a couple hours.  Mike Holbrook, with AEP said "sometimes they just go bad."
