Opal Pinkerton Bradley

1913 - 2013

Opal Pinkerton Bradley, 99, of Louisa, went to her heavenly home Friday, April 26, 2013 in Three Rivers Medical Center in Louisa, Ky after a brief illness.
 

Mrs. Bradley was born December 1, 1913 in McRoberts, Ky. a daughter of the late Lewis and Daisy Rice Pinkerton.
 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charley Bradley; two sisters, Naomi Pinkerton Hammond, and LaHome Pinkerton (infant); brother, William Allen Pinkerton (infant); and two grandsons, Bill and Tim Gray.

She is survived by a sister, Imogene Pinkerton Svitek (Edward) of Mesa, Arizona; three sons, Darrell (Louise), Tom (JoAnn), Steve (Barbara), all of Louisa, Ky.; four daughters, Laura Gray, Wanda Miller Hayes, both of Louisa, Ky, Agnes Lyon (Jim) of Lake Wales, FL., Phyllis (Larry) Dotson of Arnold, MO; seventeen grandchildren, twenty seven great-grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren; and many special nieces and nephews.

She was a charter member of Dennis Chapel Methodist church and member of Green Valley Homemakers and Lawrence County Democrat Womens Club. She was also a Kentucky Colonel.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to "Kyle" at Home Federal Saving and Loan, 119 N. Main Cross Street, Louisa, Ky. 41230.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Monday, April 29, 2013 at Louisa United Methodist Church with Rev. Gordon Crisp, Rev. Bobby Workman, and Rev. Jimmy Osborne officiating. Burial will follow at Yatesville Memorial Gardens, Louisa, Ky.

Visitation will be 4:00 til 9:00 PM Sunday at Young Funeral Home Chapel.

 

Jack R. Cyrus

1941 - 2013

Jack R. Cyrus, 71, of Flatwoods, KY passed away Thursday April 25, 2013 at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital following a sudden illness.  

Jack was born June 15, 1941 in Louisa, KY the son of the late Jeff and Pearl Boggs Cyrus. He was a retired crane operator and maintance employee of Armco Steel. 

Survivors include his loving wife, Carolyn McKenzie Cyrus, a daughter Cindy Thomas and husband Shane of Rush, KY; two sons Mark Cyrus of Russell, KY and Phillip Cyrus and wife Susan of Fort Payne, AL; two brothers Billy Joe Cyrus and Scott Cyrus both of Louisa, KY and a sister Nola Wellman also of Louisa; seven grandchildren Jacob Thomas, Joseph Thomas, Joshua Cyrus and wife Mary, Miranda Cyrus, Jason Cyrus and wife Heather, Johnathon Cyrus, and Kayrn Cyrus; four great grandchildren Starlynn Coffey, Bresea Cyrus, Jax Cyrus, and Ellie Grace Cyrus. 

Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday April 28th at 1:00 pm at the Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Muncy officiating. Burial will follow in the Cyrus Family Cemetery at Louisa.  

Friends may call after 6:00 pm Saturday at the Wilson Funeral Home.

 

Charles Kay McCormick

1957 - 2013

Charles Kay McCormick 55 of Huntington, WV passed away Thursday April 25, 2013 at his home.

Charles was born Oct. 10, 1957, the son of Charles E. and Nannie Spillman McCormick. He was a former employee of the Veterans Administration and a United States Army Veteran. He is preceded in death by his wife Joyce McCormick.  

Survivors include his parents Charles and Nannie Spillman of Huntington, WV; two daughters Francesca O’Toole and husband TJ, and Alexandria Steimer and husband Michael; three sons Alex Steimer of Bossier City, LA, Charles Allen McCormick of MI, and Matthew McCormick of Huntington, WV; three grandchildren Isabella Steimer, Lucy Steimer, and Owen O’Toole; a sister Juanita Eller and husband Chris also of Huntington, WV; nieces Melissa Bowen and Amber Bowen; aunt Dorothy Spilllman of Columbus, OH, and uncle Carl Spillman of Delaware, OH.   

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday April 25th at 11:00 am at the Wilson Funeral Home by Rev. Darrell Brewer. Burial will follow with military honors at the Yatesville Memorial Gardens Louisa, KY.  

Friends may call from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm Friday April 24th at Wilson Funeral Home.
