Eight applicants vying for new Louisa police positions;

LOUISA, Ky. -- The Louisa Police Department is in the process of testing new officers. testing began Saturday with a total of eight candidates who took the four hour written test. All eight candidates are vying for the second round of testing.

According to Chief Greg Fugitt this was the first round of applicants to be called in for testing and the department is still taking applications for the second round.

"Applications must be in by August 31 if they want to be considered," Fugitt said. "I hope to get the best possible officer for Louisa out of the two-part testing."

Once the entire written test phases are completed the top applicants will be selected among the highest scores and then will be sent on to state required agility testing.
"I hope to have a candidate ready to be sent to the academy by the first of October pending the approval of the mayor and council," Fugitt said.
