While on the traffic stop officers could smell a chemical odor consistent with a Clandestine Methamphetamine lab in the trailer park Where Burris was stopped.

The WCSD DEU tracked the odor down to Burris' trailer and applied for a search warrant with Magistrate Runyon.

After obtaining a search warrant the WCSD DEU, WCSD deputies, and Fort Gay PD executed the search warrant and found a gas generator and reaction vessel that were recently active (lab) , multiple inactive labs, and a large quantity of materials and chemicals.

The Fort Gay Fire Dept. assisted in ventilating the residence. The Mayor of Fort Gay, Joetta Hatfield was also present.

Wayne Co. Sheriff Rick Thompson says the DEU has received numerous tips on the suspect and more arrests are pending.

Is there a way to start a go fund me page to keep idiots like this in jail?

Beyond ventilating the trailer, doesn't it need to be professionally cleaned? Or do they require that anymore?

What I wanna know is why is he free in the first place given his track record of drug offenses? Wayne county must have a revolving door at the courthouse just like Lawrence county has. Defendants walk in and right back out and are given 2nd 3rd 4th and 5th chances. It's become a total mockery in Lawrence county, and citizens have lost all faith in the system and the judge (Preston) who continually accepts the plea agreements that allow these offenders to walk free.

I am very proud of the work that Sheriff Thompson is doing in Wayne County. It's about time someone took the drug problem seriously. Now if we can just get the judicial system on board maybe a change will occur in our communities. I also applaud Magistrate Runyon. You have my support and respect. gV
