Mayor Joetta Hatfield is working with community members to rid the city of eye sores and so far, the project is moving along nicely.

An old building, empty for decades was removed last week (see photo), Hatfield reported on her FB page.

Louisa efforts to do the same thing have not gotten underway.

Something desperately needs done. Fort Gay can barely be considered a town anymore. It doesn't even have a grocery store. Besides the booze places at the end of the bridge, there are 2 places to get a haircut and 3 gas stations, and that my friends is Fort Gay in a nutshell.

Would love to see the Pauly's store and the old Sunco station torn down and cleaned up. Hold theses people accountable!

To "Glad"...Sadly, I don't think the mayor is going to have much luck with that eyesore. The problem is, that property belongs to the same family that controls most of the junked-up properties in Louisa. No one seems to be able to do anything with them.

Man! There isn't going to be much left of Fort Gay! Glad to read this though. I'd like to see the old gas station and car wash torn down. The ones you first notice after crossing the bridge. They instantly give a negative impression of this city.
