RE: Discipleship Teams for Seven Cities Outreach

by Special For The Lazer

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

Greetings and blessings to you in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! As some of you are aware, God is stirring up the gifts within us to come together regionally in unity to take back what the enemy has stolen from us.

On November 4th we held a meeting to discuss the Seven Cities Outreach we are doing and Kevin Burgess with Ichthus Ministries shared his anointed vision of youth ministry in our region. I was both humbled and honored that the Lord brought so many of the brethren together in such powerful unity.

Mr. Burgess is holding a training meeting on December 3, 2009 at the New Beginnings Assembly of God in Grayson, Kentucky from 6-9 PM. We urge you to attend this meeting as it will be training for dealing with new converts and the ways to approach situations where sexual abuse, physical abuse, suicidal thinking, drug abuse, self harm, etc. are discovered during one on one witnessing. I have been through this training and Mr. Burgess’s method is highly anointed and refreshing. Knowledge shared in this session will be very helpful in the altar ministries and the discipleship teams we are putting together in the region for our Seven Cities Outreach. Without local support and regional thinking believers, we cannot accomplish what God is calling and quickening us together to do. Also, we are inviting intercessory prayer groups to participate.

Sons of Thunder’s Seven Cities Outreach will combine ministry, bands, drama teams, audio-visual presentations and other methods to bring the cities concert type celebration events for the sole purpose of soul winning and renewal of relationship with Christ. The seven cities targeted initially are: Morehead, Grayson-Olive Hill, Ashland, Pikeville, Paintsville, Prestonsburg and Maysville. This truly is only the beginning.

We are hoping to raise $2500 per city to cover costs of bands, lodging, and ministry materials. Any donations will be made to Victory Christian Center, 12397 Little Ford Road, Webbville, KY 41180. Pastor David Webb has graciously offered to set up a separate account for the Seven Cities Outreach and anyone contributing will be welcome to see how every penny is spent and accounted for.

Sons of Thunder is doing the first 2010 event on January 9th in Morehead, Kentucky at the Morehead Conference Center beginning at around 5:30 PM. Five bands will be ministering along with one solo artist. We are asking pastors from other communities to provide messages between bands. However, the messages need to be drama teams, video, etc. We hope to show the love of Christ with methods other than preaching. At the conclusion of the event, all pastors and musicians will come together to give a call to action.

We need your help and are requesting you let us know if you are coming to the  December 3rd meeting at Grayson and if you plan on helping at Morehead January 9th so we can plan the best outreach. If you choose to donate financially, this is good ground to sow seed into. Donations should be to Victory Christian Center denoted: Seven Cities Outreach. If you feel led to contribute in any capacity, please let me know as soon as possible. Feel free to call me at 304-235-1898 or email me atjlycan626@verizon.net.

Blessings,

Joe Lycan
