Sheriff’s men nab suspected drug dealer ‘asleep at the wheel’

LOUISA — 11/23/09– On November 19th, 2009 Deputy Brent Pack responded to an anonymous tip of a possible intoxicated driver at Three Rivers Food Mart on Hwy 2565.

Upon arrival at the scene Deputy Pack located Tyler Branham, 26 of Louisa passed out in the driver’s seat of a Chevrolet pickup with the fuel nozzle still in the truck.

Deputy Pack detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage about Mr. Branham and also suspected him to be under the influence of a controlled substance. Mr.. Branham failed the field sobriety test and was placed under arrest for DUI.

While searching Mr. Branham and the vehicle, Deputy Pack located 25 Oxycodone pills, 5 Clonazepam pills, assorted baggies, scales, several suspected crack pipes and straws, other types of drug paraphernalia, a concealed 45 caliber handgun and over $700 in cash.

Branham was charged with DUI, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a controlled substance 1st degree, possession of drug paraphernalia, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, controlled substance not in original container, and trafficking in a controlled substance 1st degree. He was transported to Big Sandy Regional Detention center and is being held on a $10,000 cash bond.
